I don't expect used trade-in/sale values to dip any time soon. Back during the initial surge in offers from online/carmax/etc, I was excited! There was a clear dip in the summer as those who could do without a vehicle took advantage. Now, everyone that could do that (sell an unused/unneeded vehicle) has done so! What is left are used vehicles belonging to owners that need a replacement - that is a much more limited market. As a result, dealers/wholesalers need to offer more to both to entice people to sell, and to keep the inventory flowing.I got a totally unexpected offer for my Transit Connect. More than a dealer would probably sell it for. $3000 more than my Ford dealer offered as a trade-in! doesn't do me much good though since i have been waiting in silence for 4 months now for my build and I'm not feeling it's going to happen anytime soon. In fact, if I can get my hands on a SC limited trim for MSRP (doubtful) I'm going for it. If my TC holds it's value a bit longer it will help compensate for the SC's much higher price
My 2019 Ranger went from $35K offers, down to $32-33K - literally the week before my truck arrived those started to spike - ended up selling to Carvana for over $37k.
The benefit most of us all have from this, is we are buying a brand new truck that is priced at an amount generally seen as an excellent value. Those buying at MSRP (or better with a couple volume dealers) are making out like bandits.
That won't be changing any time soon, certainly not between now and when your truck is delivered!
