Twenty years without an accidnent is good attention and careful driving. If everybody was attentive the nanny packages would not be needed. But with cell phones and all people dont pay attention.I'm glad to hear about the lack of audible alerts. When I drive my Dad's Forester, I am often startled by all the beeps and screen alerts that keep happening. Each time I glance at the info screen to see what's going on. Add to that, I've had emergency braking take over when it thinks I'm going to crash on three different occasions. It makes for a nervy drive when ever I shuttle my father around.
I admit there is a modern tech learning curve I need to overcome as I've been driving an '02 Civic for the last 20 years. But I've been accident free for those 20 years and it just seems to me that all the onboard nannies can be distracting for already attentive drivers. With the Maverick, I'm expecting I'll be able fine-tune the settings until the aids are minimally intrusive, and adapt as a driver in a modern car.
