Anyone have a solid cubby solution for holding phone with case?

I can't tell you how many car phone magnet solutions that I have returned for not being a solid solution or not having a strong enough magnet. Combine that with the fact that I want the solution to be in the Maverick cubby hole next to the display, and I have just been pulling my hair out. Either the unit as a whole falls out of the cubby, or the magnet is not strong enough to hold the phone over bumps.

Who (if anyone) has a truly solid solution with these features:

• no magnet insert requred between case and phone
• noise free over bumps
• stay in the cubby without falling off, or the insert falling out of the cubby..

If someone has a solution which involves switching to a specific iphone case, I will also consider that option.

I have an iphone 13 Pro Max in a Pelican case. I had to adapt the phone mount using a dremel sanding disc for the phone and case to work. A phone without a case will work with no issues. The mount the goes in the cubby fits very well. No movement....very secure. No magnets used.

I've had it in the maverick for about 3 weeks now. It is working well. Happy with it. Pricey...in the past I always used RAM mounts, so price point not much different than them.

Made for a Tesla, but works perfectly for the Maverick cubby. Charges your phone, too, while you drive.

It's very solid aluminum. Feels very high quality. The magnet is STRONG!

I drilled a hole in the back of the cubby and a hole right above the charging ports in the center console and ran the charging cable through the dash so the cable is 95% concealed. A very clean look.

Here's the thread I made with the setup I went with. Quadlock Case/Mount + Akro Designs Insert. I have had zero issues with the MAG mount but they do offer a twist lock version that easily allows one handed operation.

It is injection molded ABS and not some 3d printed deal. The paint job sucks so go to Lowes, etc and get a can of Krylon Satin Dark Copper Metallic to match other trim.

I don't have photos to upload, but the over spray from my half baked paint job held the grid in fine but it came with some double sided tape to use if you'd prefer. It sits back enough from the front edge of the cubby that it is hardly noticeable at all and makes a big difference having the color match paint.

At that point just get any vent mount phone holder you want. It will be strong, secure, and match well and cost you less than $25 to get there.

There’s an app I use for deliveries which doesn’t produce notifications when plugged into Apple CarPlay. Also Waze turns some features off in CP. Such as reporting police on other side of the road.

Why is there always this question on these threads? Only it's not really a question... is it? It's more of an assumption and attempted rhetorical statement.

Not everything translates to android auto or carplay and another one is that some people live in and out of cell service, so putting on airplane mode helps keep the phone from constantly trying to load songs or playlists from apps like Pandora. Also, maybe someone drives a lot and if they are in a spot they can park they don't have to move the phone at all, they simply do what they need to from the mounted position. There are more reasons to have it mounted this way than there are not to.

Dan, if you see this ... thanks for sharing this solution. The Akro Designs insert doesn't come with the plug in connectors at the bottom, just an opening for them. (Correct?) If so, where do you get the usb or connection ports to place in the Akro insert? Much appreciated.

He has a few different options. Someone on my thread asked a similar question so I checked his site. Looks like he doesn't have the USB option listed anymore. I ordered the " Ford Maverick Cubby Mount | Phone Mounting & USB Charging" option. I did have some issues with the shipping. Label was created the day after I ordered but the tracking never updated. Was told he had issues with the labels and had resolved them. Ended up messaging on etsy and he said he ran out of a few components and had to order them. I would reach out to him on Etsy or direct email him [email protected]. Took a little while for him to respond when I tried contacting him. Awesome product though so hopefully he doesn't discontinue it. There have been several iterations so could just a new version in the works.

I have this in my truck and It comes with a base that I stuck on the side wall of the cubbie and suctioned it to its own base. My phone doesn't move or fall and no special case required.

Lisen MagSafe phone mount on Amazon. Works really well if you have a MagSafe phone case and if not they include magnets to attach to the back of your current case.

I went on Etsy and found a blank 3d printed cubby for doing custom switches. It’s never came loose. I mounted my feniex switch bank to it. All of my dash mounts use a shock plate with 1” ball joints. The GARMIN gps has a 1” to 17 mm adaptor. Using magnetic phone charger with proper case.
