I thought this is a good use for the cubby that no ones likes. I ordered a TEYOUY cubby phone mount for Maverick. It's a vent clip style. The mount has a grid appearance that I covered using 3M VHB (very high bond) double sided tape. You can find it at Lowes or Depot or online. Inside the core it's called Extreme Mounting Tape. Next I ordered a small stainless steel sheet from Amazon, K&S Sheet Metal Stock, made in USA. Using tin snips I cut the metal sheet to size covering the grid on the cubby holder. Sanded the edges of the cut piece to remove any burrs or sharp edges. Hammered the piece with a rubber hammer to make it smooth and flat. Cleaned all parts with 3M adhesive cleaner 08984, fantastic product. Then I stuck the plate to the 3M tape, pressed it on for 30 seconds. Next I painted the the plate with satin black spray paint. I used LISEN Ultra Magnetic car phone holder. This is a very high quality product, very sturdy and looks great. I pushed the cubby phone holder into the empty cubby on the dash, positioned the magnetic phone holder into place using the included 3M tapes and it looks like it came from the factory. I use a iPhone case that has a built in metal ring which allows the holder to keep it in place. Easily rotates to the position you like. I added two more pictures.
