Anybody purchase a Scout Tuktut yet? Feedback?

After years and years of tent car camping at IMSA race weekends, gravel bike races, trout fishing excursions, etc, my wife and I are looking to move up to a truck camper type set up.

Has anyone purchased a Scout Tuktut for their Maverick yet? I have seen reviews for the wedge style tent campers on the site but I would save the money and keep the tent thing going. We don't have a dealer in the Southeast to look at them in person. It would be a drive to Mass. to closes dealer.

They've been brought up a couple of times, but generally it induces a symphony of complaints about the price and offers of cheaper alternatives. If the Scout is your preferred option, you might be hard pressed to get substantive feedback here.

You might keep an eye on the exhibitor list for 2024 at the East event in Arrington, VA - often vendors will flip-flop between East/West events year over year. That would be a shorter drive than Mass. to see one in person if they happen to come to East in 2024.

It looks Awesome, I was super excited until I saw the price. 16K seems a bit steep for a tiny corrugated fiberglass box

It's just camping.

Scout is very expensive. I think I'm just cut from a different cloth as I would just use a tent or rent a cabin. Or pull a small camper.

I have a 2023 Maverick with a Scout Tuktut. I'm not sure what to say about cost as the whole thing is probably not totally rational, but my initial impressions of the whole set up are very positive.

Hi Boblobia. Any photos or insights you have are greatly appreciated. In the pouring rain and snow, hard campers are the only way to go. Not many options for the Maverick! Thanks.

Here are some photos. The setup included the following modifications:

• Black Armour 1/2 inch rubber bed mat
• Bed tie-down brackets provided by Scout (extra $)
• Timbren SES

The fit is very tight - less than 1/2 inch on either side of the wheel wells. Will probably make putting it on a little more delicate of an operation.

Also worth noting, the rear suspension sagged about 2" and the front lifted about 3/8". Seems to average around 20 MPG with the camper.

Currently considering adding a Steeda sway bar, Cargomaxx heavy-duty rear coil springs and LT245/70R17 Falken Wildpeak A/T 4W tires.

How are you liking your tuktut? Did you ever add coil springs? How hard is it to take it on and off your truck? I want one

I really love the Tuktut. It feels more spacious inside than it looks. I also love how compact the whole setup is.

I added some Air Lift 1000 air bags. They have done the job of levelling out the suspension. I'll see if I also want the HD coil springs but I suspect not (as they would probably stiffen the ride with the camper off).

The camper is easy to take off but it's a very tight fit so putting it on takes a little more time and practice. I'm still experimenting with little hacks to help (e.g. laser levellers and other guides). I'm thinking of trying some teflon sheets on the jack stand pads to make it easier to just "kick" it over a half inch.

How is everything going with the tuktut? My wife and i are talking about getting one. Have you taken it off road at all like back forest roads ETC?

Love it. Think you can sleep three in it if you had the extended bed slide option? We have a sylvansport Go camper right now, and the thought of this fires me up.
