Anybody else use scheduled starts to pre-cool their mobile oven so it’s drivable when they get off from work?

I don't use the remote start - instead, I crack the moonroof. The worst of the hot air goes straight out the top. So yes, if it's 100 degrees outside it's 100 or 101 in the truck when I get in, but it's not 110, and that AC kicks in FAST.

Being retired, I don't have much of a schedule (Hooray!), but when the weather is extreme, I do use the Ford Pass app to remotely start the Maverick. It's a nice bit of technology that makes life a bit more comfortable. Glad to see the Ford Pass is still free. Other car makers want you to subscribe $$. Talking about you, Hyundai!
Geeze. Thanks for bringing that up. Now Ford will start charging.

Of course I COULD suck it up. My first car was a '79 Corolla with vinyl seats, crank windows, & no AC. My 2nd car was a Dodge Daytona with T-tops and a broken AC for 6 years. You think no AC is bad in SC? Try having no AC and glass T-tops...they let the sun in!!

The question isn't "CAN I endure a hot vehicle?" The question is "Why would I, when remote start exists?" Next you're going to be saying we should turn off the AC in our house when we leave and turn it back on when we come home. That's what we did with the old window units. :)
I think he was joking around. Our generation has a warped sense of humor

Last hole on the golf course was a very hot day. I used the app to start the truck on the tee box. Truck cut off right when we pulled up. We would have been way to far away for a fob remote. The group was very happy!

At the age of 52, I’ll take the youngin compliment. Also grateful I’m not a miserable old fart 💨
I got my drivers license in 1986, 3 years before you. My first car was a 1979 Mustang. It had no AC and roll up windows.

Our generation is at the tipping point, where part of our childhood was still in the stone ages, so we can actually remember how horrible life used to be.

As an aside, no I don’t pre-cool my car before leaving work. I work in a massive concrete building in an area with no windows and I get minimal cell signal. I eventually will get text messages, but trying to do anything with a car app at work is just going to time-out.

if I try getting the app to connect as I’m leaving the building, it usually doesn’t get the car started before I arrive at my car.

So I never bother with pre-cooling my car.

Every Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Long drive to downtown Atlanta. I love it.

If it’s 100 outside, it is not 100 in the truck. It is more likely to be 140 F in the truck. That is why pets that get left in the car can die so quickly.
