That would be an awesome combo. I think they could at least offer the XL as is with the 1.5 engine. Just make it so it can't even be optioned with a hitch and they'd be a great around town work rig. If they offered it with single cab and longer bed I'd be first in line to order.
I personally know of two who have not purchased maverick because of crew cab and short bed. I could personally handle one also 6-9" narrower and 10-12" storage behind front row seats with 6'5" bed.

I'm happy with my 23 XL and the options I added, one of them being the manual sliding rear window. I was hoping the power sliding window would be available for the lower trims for 24 but see it's only on the Lariat. I like the rear parking sensors also only on the Lariat. The only things I don't like on the Lariat are the brown seats and the $36,000 price.:(

So, what have they bought instead?

One guy refurbished an S10 (cost more than maverick XLT ), the other had a manual shift jeep with a small trailer. The jeep was given recently to grandson and he currently has a Hyundai Elantra. I personally sold my Chevy luv in 92 and lived without pickup until I bought a Frontier in 2018 (was flex fuel and got several mpg better on E85).

I thought about putting an order in for the hybrid lottery as a "why the hell not" scenario, but I think I will be holding off until they either offer AWD and 4k towing on a hybrid platform or my unicorn PHEV Ranger comes along.

That was one of the reasons I nearly went with an access cab Tacoma instead. In the end MPG and price win out over a slight decrease in functionality. I could go for a super cab Maverick with a 6'5" bed as well. If my sideline business picks up anymore and the Maverick becomes strictly a work rig I'll be removing the rear seat for storage.

We are ordering a hybrid '24 Lariat because our hybrid '23 XLT Lux will end up being our kid's car when she heads to college in a couple of years. Or, if something wonderful like a plugin comes out in '25 maybe she gets the '24 and we trade in the '23. Fun to consider the possibilities. Until then, the hybrid Maverick is a wonderful city truck. Not that we don't wish we took the Mini often.

Not me, I bought my CO XLT AWD SIBL BAP IN April and plan on keeping it for the long haul. Mine has the now discontinued keypad and plan on keeping it.
I get it! I love my 1st edition!

Be sure your private offer stands if you change model/engine etc. I think, but check me, Long Arthur said it is only good if you roll your order over for the same configuration in the next model year.
