While a response is appreciated. The copy-paste responses are becoming obvious and look particularly bad on an enthusiast forum.Good morning! Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership information? I would like to look into these catalytic converter concerns for you on my end. Thanks!
Exactly.lmao
They will say, and I quote...
" Hi there! Please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location. I'd like to look into this concern on my end. "
Then they will open a ticket and claim someone will get back to the user within 2-3 days. Then nobody will get back to the user, and no method for following up will have been provided.
That has been the trend I have seen so far on this forum.
No. It occurs much more rapidly than 10 minutes. The lean idle surging will occur within 3 minutes of starting with the key with the interior temp set at 70 degrees (exterior was -15 F this morning). Also, I am driving 150 miles for my commute at the posted speed limits. Defroster has to be functional prior to moving the vehicle for visibility reasons. FordPASS will shut the ICE off after a set time if it is used for remote start. A software update for the cold idle circuit fuel/air maps on the 2.5 atkinson is required ex post haste. Given the proximity of the catalytic converter to wiring harness, the insulation will degrade very rapidly from the extreme heat.Could it be that idling the car for 10 minutes destroys the mileage? I had a fusion hybrid loaner and the days I just got into it, I had great mileage. But if I remote started it for 10 minutes, my mileage was down a to. And cat converters are made to run super hot. A red hot one is nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion.
Timing sounds like a good possible reason, now just why timing is getting off in the cold.I don't know about that, so I did a little research. From what I can find, they shouldn't glow. Here's a trustworthy source: The Glowing Converter | Car Talk
If you've got a source that says it's OK and normal for the cat to glow, please post it.
I think he's saying it's not DIRECTLY connected to the engine???Either way it's "attached to the engine" I think.
Hope somebody is archiving these posts for the court case when someones house burns down.Good morning! Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership information? I would like to look into these catalytic converter concerns for you on my end. Thanks!
Enthusiasm waningAnyone else find it odd that Ford has said nothing about this? Month seven of my wait for a date…and I want this truck, but if features I am paying for self destruct maybe this is not for me….
Great idea. If everyone with this issue will do this something will be done.Thank you for documenting this. While @Ford Motor Company fumbles over themselves, can you submit this to the NHTSA?

There is only 1 complaint with NHTSA on this so far.![]()
