Thanks for posting. I ordered 6/8, Alto Blue XLT Hybrid. Still waiting on Ford to contact me on build date and VIN. They told me I should hear something by Thursday. 🤞Looking at your truck I’m very satisfied with the color. I, too, will have to adjust to hybrid driving & what it all entails. I ordered the spray-on bed liner. Maybe that’s slowing down my truck as some reported. After reading the posts I think I’m glad I ordered sight unseen. Just a matter of patience I guess.

@Sylvester, sure thing! And, thanks for helping out!
Ask the lady in the house if she can lend you a millimeter soft measuring tape and take a picture of each position:

If you have soft measuring tape, why wouldn't you just skip straight to measuring the steering wheel circumference with that?

Agreed. With a soft measurement tape in hands it's quicker to just measure the grip at the top and the bulge as shown on the picture below:

It was a good explanation though to use an alternate method if he only has a stiff tape measure or ruler 📏

Could also use some string and wrap around wheel — cut and measure length.

Are you trying to get those measurements for a steering wheel cover?

Correct. The company that asked for the measurements is called East Detailing Steering Wheel (eastdetailing.com). I used them in the past for my wife's old Civic LX, and my plan is to do the same for my hybrid (when it arrives).

I took a longer freeway trip today and have to say the ride on the freeway is really comfy BUT I need to get used to the fact, that as soon as I take the foot of the gas pedal, the truck goes into the regeneration mode and slows down. It is kind of weird that you have to have your foot constantly on the gas pedal, so I ended up using the cruise control as much as I could. I am really glad I have the XLT trim, I have the feeling I will be using the cruise control every time I am on the freeway.

So we are 150 miles out and here few more impressions:

- The seats are super comfy. I was afraid with my high BMI I would have issues with the small seats, but seats are great.
- I took my dad for a ride and first thing he mentioned: "This feels like a car, not a truck" I think we heard this almost on every report and I 100% concur.
- Tons of space inside, you don't feel like you are driving in a small truck.
- I experience all sort of weird smells and noises in the truck. I guess that is the nature of the (hybrid) beast and we will get used to it. The engine is pretty loud, both in hybrid and gas mode.
- AC works great
- The "raspy" ride is more in the City, on the freeway you don't feel it. But overall, once you take your food from the gas, you have the feeling you are driving with the parking brake on, you have to have your foot constantly on the gas pedal to move forward.
- With the mix Freeway/City ride I got on 120 miles exactly 42 mpg, not bad Ford with your estimation!
- The lane keep assist is the worse I have seen on any car or truck, doesn't work that great. Not a big issue though.
- I had 2 additional people in the truck today and we all 3 fit perfectly in.
- Speaking of quality: I opened to hood to see what is going on there. There were several random loose tapes around some of the components I had to remove. There is also a piece of cable with a connector at the end, which floats freely in the engine bay?!!!??? Are you kidding me? WTH is that?? (see picture below). I might bring it to the dealership or just tie it somewhere where it doesn't float around freely.

Other than that, I still love the truck. I think this is one of the coolest and best looking trucks on the market. I installed the Extang Trifecta Signature cover and it looks even better with the cover on it. I love this cover, the only complain I have, it flatters pretty heavily during the drive on the freeway. I have to see if I need to change the position to change that but otherwise the cover looks great (see below). Will report more soon.

I wonder if your experience with regenerative breaking at highway speed is normal for how the vehicle is designed? Seems that the designers would want to balance energy recovery versus energy needed to increase speed on a flat surface for best economy. So unless you touch the brakes on level highway why would they engage? Maybe how the cvt responds? I haven't noticed anything similar in our toyota hybrids. I have a maverick xlt hybrid on order in carbonized grey.

Thats what I was wondering about, what it sounds like he is describing is almost like the hydrostatic drives on tractors. Basically you keep your foot on the pedal until you want to stop.

Yes to both of you, it feels like that. As soon as I take my foot from the gas I see the battery charging starts and the truck slows down much much faster than a gas vehicle. I have to say that I really need to get used to this. I actually even thought that something would be off with my truck but on the other hand they took it on a 25 miles ride at the factory to test drive it, so I assume things are the way they are supposed to be.

Interesetingly, my colleague asked me today if it would drive like a tesla which according to him drives like a gocart: as soon as you take your foot off the gas it signifficantly slows down and my answer was yes.

That kind of surprises me, I would not have thought the regen would be so aggressive. If that is the case, I'm very glad I got the XLT with cruise. I feel like cruise will become your friend with that kind of driving dynamic.

100% agree. I have been almost constantly using the CC, so glad I went with XLT.

Very happy i went all out with lariat adaptive cruise, sounds like it’ll save some foot fatigue.

Have you tried eco mode? Some hybrids increase regen braking even more in that mode, or Low button maybe even more.

Reading about this a while ago some refer to this style as “one pedal driving”.

This might be one of the reasons, meant to mention it in my last post. I have been driving mainly in normal or eco mode. I will try to drive in sport mode and see how it changes.

I picked up my new Hybrid XLT earlier today!! I really love the truck and (with exception of few small things)it looks great. I will post a full report with pictures in the next few days. I am surprised we don't see more reports about Hybrid deliveries here but I guess we will see more in the next few days.

UPDATE: Rather than writing a single report, I think it is better to write my impressions as I get to know my truck and experience any new things to report. Please continue reading through this thread as I will be reporting every once in a while new impressions. I see there are already bunch of questions, I will try to answer the questions in those reports as well.

Love that color. Alto Blue? Was my 2nd choice. I ordered Hot Pepper Lariat on 11/1. Late Feb is guesstimate on delivery. No VIN yet... Good Luck and Congratulations!
