Use a small flat tip screwdriver and push a strip of screen rubber that holds screen in place. Worked on my '22 Lariat.
I did a similar approach that ended the noise: put some rubber o-rings with the help of a trim tool.

For me the dash rattles along with the 12volt battery issues are my only complaints about the Maverick, but they are big ones.

Sure there are other areas for improvement but they were expected for a budget vehicle. Making a dash that doesn't sound like it's coming apart over every bump in the road shouldn't be that hard. I came from a 15 year old base model civic and still drive an 11 year old Rav 4, neither rattle, never charged batteries, just replaced every 7 years or so. I've been to the dealer 3 times to try to get my battery sorted ( last time battery was replaced which solved it, but only for a few months). These issues have all come up before hitting 5000 miles!

Without these two issues I would give the Maverick 9/10 when considering price, even with the recalls, but these issues make me seriously question buying Ford again.

I have a 24 XLT hybrid and I'm getting this noise that sounds like two plastic pieces hitting together by the defrost vent I can't seem to make it stop it doesn't do it all the time just on bumpy roads but if anyone knows a fix for this please let me know. It's just kind of annoys the bleep out of me
Found a fix for this exact issue. The noise is coming from the defroster vent hitting another piece of black plastic just underneath the dash on the section closest to the steering wheel. If you shine a light from the outside of the vehicle looking in, you will see that the defroster vent is parallel to another piece of black plastic right underneath the dash. The pieces are further apart on the edges but get much closer together towards the middle and will rub against each-other when going over bumps. This seems to only exist on the drivers side defroster vent. I shoved a small piece of cardboard that I spray painted black in between these two pieces and the noise completely went away. Kind of janky but the cardboard is hardly noticeable at all. Might switch it to a plastic piece eventually because the cardboard will probably fall apart over time.

Note: I found that the easiest way to insert something in between the two black plastic pieces was to insert the cardboard towards the edge where they are spaced further apart and then slide it towards the middle. Simply shoving it under the dash will do nothing to help the problem, it needs to be inserted in between the defroster vent and the other black piece that is just under the dash.

Thanks I will give it a try. To me it does sound exactly like plastic hitting each other. It seems to do it more when it's warmer than during the cold weather.

How far where you able to get the cardboard to slide between the two pieces of plastic?

Unfortunately the rattle came back after just a couple days but it is a little better than before at least. I was able to slide the cardboard pieces all the way to the middle it just took a lot of force. Incredibly annoying and I’m still trying to find a permanent solution.

Mine has it where my 2023 was much less noticeable. My 2024 Civic has a pretty bad dash creak as well. Don’t get me started on my Model 3…

Adding another update to this thread. I removed the cardboard pieces and sprayed a butt ton of this dry lube around the defrost vent on both sides. I sprayed it from every possible angle so much so that it started dripping down onto the floor mat below. The spray evaporates after a couple minutes and leaves behind a thin clear film of lube. It’s been 3 days and I haven’t heard a single sound from the vent so far. Hoping that this solution lasts a long time but I’m assuming I’ll have to reapply every so often. I also sprayed the lube into other areas of the dash where I was getting rattles and they have all gone away. I’ve had a silent dashboard for the last couple days (again hoping this lasts for a while).
Only downside is that it makes the cab smell nasty but that should fade in a couple weeks. Leaving the windows open while parked has helped significantly.
Lube I used:

TSB – 24-2317: 2022-2024 Ford Maverick Pickups May Rattle Over Rough Roads
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/tsb-–-24-2317-2022-2024-ford-maverick-pickups-may-rattle-over-rough-roads.56103/

This TSB – 24-2317 – specifically targets 2022-2024 Ford Maverick pickups with two-wheel drive, as some of those models may exhibit a rattling noise from the instrument panel, near the base of the windshield, when traveling over rough or uneven roads. The cause of this problem stems from excessive movement of the instrument panel, it seems, and can be rectified rather easily.

Well at least it's not just Mavericks.
I'm currently driving a loaner 2025 Bronco Sport waiting for the new engine to be put in my Maverick.

It has a serious rattling noise that I've narrowed down to the giant infotainment screen. If I hold the screen at the top and pull slightly towards me, the rattle goes away. Hopefully getting my truck back this week so I haven't really tried to fix it/ stuff something behind it so it stops rattling.

My 2024 Civic has a worse dash rattle than my Maverick.

My Model 3 was the worst of all of them, a close second was my Bronco.

It's a sign of the manufacturing times.
