Just picked up my truck from the airbag recall work, got home, backed in the garage and realized the backup sensors now do not work. Definitely worked before taking the truck in for the recall work.

Major pain getting it to and leaving at the dealer for service again. Anything I can try before going this route?

Just stays on green warning bars and no beeping

Modules and programming - you won't figure it out. Go to the dealer, it's under warranty.

Sucks but looks like the only option

On top of that, they told me this morning airbag recall was 2hrs and ended up taking the guy 7 hrs because he's "never done it before".

Now I learn he fu#$%^D up the backup sensors on top of that.

A number of people have had electrical issues of one sort or another after getting the recall done. Seems to be a growing problem. I'm honestly kind of scared to get mine done.

I was going in for a service and called the dealer two weeks before -

"I want to get the recalls done, can you order the parts?"

"Yes we will order the parts, no problem."

I get there and the guy says -

"We first have to take a look at the serial number on the airbag to know if we need to replace it, then we will let you."

" Wait on the phone you said you'd order the part?"

"We have the part, but if the number isn't of a certain group you won't need a replacement."

"Ok, got it. When can I pick it up?" - it was 1pm.

"We should be done by 4:30pm".

I get there at 4:30pm.

"Looks like you do need the replacement but it's going to be a 4 hour job so we need to schedule you on another day."

So now I'm scheduled to have my airbag replaced at a separate visit.

I’m told they need it all day again. Apparently headliner needs to come off again because an electrical connector did not seat properly.

now at 14hrs for a 2hr book job

All of this sounds like typical dealership BS. No knowledge of the products they sell, lack of training and just plain overall dumbness.

I don't think the average car owner has the remotest idea just how hard it is to get good technicians these days. Trades are losing people every year and it is hard to get people into blue collar work. The cars are getting more technical, and in fairness this is a brand new model. There are many repairs that are going to be a first for technicians. So, while the OP has been inconvenience and that sucks, think about how much money the technician will lose working on his truck before calling him dumb from the comfort of your keyboard.

That is precisely how flat rate works. If the job pays 2 hours, thats what he gets paid. Whether or not it takes him 30 minutes or 14 hours.

if it’s first time tech does a complicated job like removing and reinstalling the headliner, the dealership will take some of the time I believe

However I imagine they won’t cover his screwup if it turns out he didn’t seat the connections before reinstalling the headliner

he screwed up. I have no sympathy for that

I'm glad that is what you believe, based on no facts at all. Some dealers will help with shop time, absolutely. But they are not making up 10 hours of difference. That is not how this works.

Maybe you could wait for the facts before assuming. Maybe he did screw up, no reason to have any sympathy. I am sure you never made a single mistake in your career for which you felt bad about. Also, in most careers an error is just an error and does not cost you money out of your own pocket. A little understanding would go a long way. Instead you sound like a fuck everyone else kind of guy. It must be a real joy to be friends with someone like you.

lol.. Reception asked the tech when I called how much longer and he told them one hr. I arrived at the dealership an hr later to be told he was on lunch and he now said 6hrs. He wasted 2hrs of my time with that screwup. All he had to do was say he wasn't sure.

Then he reinstalled the headliner without seating electrical connections and needs my truck there for another full day to correct the problem.

Sorry no sympathy. I hope he pays out the azz
