Just completed a trip from Mount Vernon, WA to Phoenix and the wind noise was pretty bad. So, my question is do deflectors do anything to help tame the noise?

My Maverick is fairly wind noisy when compared to my previous Chevy Volt.
I have EGR window vent shades. They may actually make it a little more noisy. I bought them mainly to leave my windows open a little bit In the Heat of the summer for ventilation while parked. And for shading the sun while driving during late fall, winter and early spring.

I've seen a few people putting weather stripping around the windshield where it meets the body and report a quieter ride but haven't tried it myself.

I've just made my first long highway trip in mine and was shocked by the wind noise. I assume it's coming from the windshield. It's bizarre that there's no rubber around the border.

🤔
I can't recall the last time I've seen a rubber gasket around a windshield. My 2009 smart doesn't have one my wife's 2016 Escape doesn't have one.

LOL- I was going to say the exact same thing- the Mav is noisier than my Volt! I don't know about wind deflectors for wind noise. I installed them to let me crack my windows and have the rain stay out. I guess that would make them rain deflectors.

I think they are slightly noisier than before and I never put them on the Volt. The Volt was quiet even when the squirrel-cage motor (ICE) was running. Tires were the noisiest issue.

Having a PHEV was good training for the Mav.

I’ve heard about this. Is there a video out there for us car illiterate folk? I can deal with the wind noise, but I hear a whistling sound sometimes that feels like mild torture…

This is the first vehicle I've bought since 2001. :)

How I wish my Maverick was a plug-in. 46 to 50 mile battery range and be perfect switching to gas for the rest.
I could probably go almost the entire winter time and not have to buy gas except once or twice.
Cue the hybrid is just as efficient drones. With my Maverick hybrid I still have to stop at gas stations every couple of weeks. When I own my Chevy Volt which got 42 on a charge before switching to gas I went months before ever putting gas in. I just plugged it in every time I got home. Chevy Volt also got 40mpg on regular gas.
Gen 1 Chevy Volt had to use premium. Only got 36 miles to on the charge.
Cue the complexity drones.
I prefer not having to buy gas if I don't need to but I also like having a car where I can go on a 700 mile trip to Salt Lake City without having to stop and plug it in every couple hundred miles. Don't even get me started on the buy an EV and then rent when you want to go on a long trip BS.

I am with you. I waited 20 years for Honda to make a Ridgeline Hybrid. The Maverick was it. I can live without the AWD, but if Ford ever makes the Mav a PHEV, I'm trading! In the meantime, I have chains for the ice (but we haven't had ice in years). I have a tractor if I get stuck on the farm.

As an aside- I kept my Tacoma (4door, 4x4) when I bought the Mav. I decided to keep the Volt and sell the Taco. The Mav is way more comfortable and gets 3 times the MPG. I wish the dealer service department was worth a shat. I'm please with the Ford dealer so far, but the Chevy guys suck, especially with a discontinued car.

Oh man, I hate that for you. I have no idea but hope there is a brand that's engineered better.

Good luck!

My main gripe on wind noise is the "buffeting" (low frequency resonance) that most 4-door vehicles seem to have, with the B pillar by my ear. If I lower the right rear window, this goes away.

Been battling with this for months. I live in a pretty windy area and my truck also has a whistle. I'm mostly focused on getting rid of the maddening whistle but the wind noise is also unusually loud for a newer car. I tried the window visors and they made the wind noise worse and had no effect on the whistle. I tried stuffing 4mm thick rubber "rope" around the entire windshield, covering the gap with weather stripping, adding more seals to the door, and to tackle the whistle I stuffed more rubber in the window seals. Nothing works.

This is done on modern cars for a better compromise between water evacuation/guttering and maintaining aerodynamics.
