Oh, like I said. I carry keys. But during the work week, not in my pockets. Keys stay in my back pack.
The proximity locks are very cool as well.
As you approach the vehicle or put your hand on the door handle, the vehicle unlocks.

You should try the system for homes.
You'll never look for a key again. šŸ˜†
Those fancy electronic locks aren't that expensive and work well if you have someone needing to get in and you're not around the house to let them in.
And they get cloned/sniffed easily.

Locks can be cracked even easier.
I've been using proximity keys for the last 10 years.
No issues, no cloning or anything like that.
And I always know exactly where my keys are.
Because they stay in my back pack 90% of the time.

Yea the convenience of just putting the key fob in your pocket, walking up to your truck. Truck unlocking, sitting down, starting it with just a press of a button and taking off is great. I bet the 2023 Maverick XLT will come standard with it. I would have gladly gave up the Ford door key pad for smart key and push start.

I was going to post the same about the next model! I bet they are all push start for 2023.

No, even with a lishi, you risk setting off the alarm and have to have a base level of skill. A script kiddie can sit on the river walk in San Antonio and gather a few thousand keys in an afternoon. Then drive to the mall and start flashing headlights to know which car to snag.

I remember back in the day we were roaming through an office garage park trying to recover someone’s girlfriend’s car for his wife. (TX is community property) and we did not know which white Mercedes convertible it was. I pissed everyone off when I punched in the panic button code to trigger the alarm.
You will bring attention they said. My reply; does anyone pay attention to car alarms anymore? We found the car, quickly, and one of our girls jumped in it and so we remote started it, and she drove outside where we had a flatbed waiting.

If only all our jobs had been so low risk and funny. Sigh.

PS no job is as boring as being the #2 car on a surveillance op.

I don't find push button start and proximity key very revolutionary. The one on my 2014 Ford Focus works half the time. I either have to bring my fob out of my pocket and put it near the button to start or push the unlock key on fob as proximity features are hit and miss. Also the life of battery in the fob don't matter at all.

Our 2020 Cx5 is a different story. Proximity key works flawlessly without a hitch.

I hear the new Ford proximity keys are pretty good as they all have that activation charge spot in the center console.

I considered getting a lariat because of that but I don't really want to pay extra plus I don't like the brown interior.

The first time I saw one was on my (step uncle?)’s Lexus. When he approached the car it started, set the seat in his preferred setting and unlocked the doors.

I spent the next afternoon sniffing it only to find a prerolled product about a week later. Fun exercise though.

Hahaha. My focus was first proximity key vehicle I owned. However the first push button key experience was with my dad's 2006 IS350 back in 2006. It was the same experience with memory functions of steering wheel and seat. That car also had cooler seats too back in 2006.

My Focus though can parallel park itself though I only used that feature once as it requires very generous amounts of space for it work... Which is at premium when I lived in the city.

Why bother. For the push button start to be worthwhile it would mean keeping the fob in your pocket, but unless the vehicle has touch sensor entry handles and door locks that are part of the system you will need to pull the fob out of your pocket anyway.

They have aftermarket systems with proximity sensors so you can leave your fob in your pocket.

Seriously, push start button should have been included in the Lux XLT package along with smart key, or at least offered as a option. Disappointed in Ford about that. I haven’t used a key to start a car in 10 years it feels like such a step back. Totally bothering me.
I wonder if we can rally up to pressure Ford into adding this on the XLT lux. I'm thinking the layout and wiring might already be in place

Tell you this much if I’m not happy when I take delivery, I will not hesitate to cancel. My deposit is fully refundable and I got it in Writing. We all work to hard to not be happy specially for almost 30K. I’m in no hurry for a car payment, my Prius works just fine. Just really wanted a truck!!!! Maybe 2023??

Why not order what you want definitively now? We ordered what we wanted, so long as the fit and finish is within spec and the vehicle matches the invoice, we are taking it. After all, that’s what BTO is. If you are looking for a different experience, great, but it is not BTO (build to order)

I'm pretty sure the conversation is about wanting keyless on XLT, which is not an option. For me, it's like cruise control on XL. What I want, not an option.

I always know exactly where my keys are 100% of the time. Perhaps not wanting to deal with a key is a generational thing. Dunno. I'll take a traditional key, please.
