I've had Ford trucks for as long as I can remember. I'm a bit older now and my Home Depot runs are few and usually for nuts and bolts. My hauling lumber and stuff for remodeling or rebuilding are over. My SO asked if I really needed a truck and I gave it lots of thought. As of Monday, I'm in a Bronco Sport Badlands. It's pretty much a very updated, 2 foot shorter Maverick with a hatch instead of a bed. I did keep it red. We'll see how it goes. :)

Very nice Bruce 👍
Do you have your Bronco jacket on order? 😉
Pretty much a tradition here. Get a vehicle, get a jacket. I now have a closet full of jackets and memories. :)

Good luck and safe travels.

I hear you. I am seriously considering dropping the Mav because after dreaming about it for more than a year, now that I actually have it, I'm finding that things are different in my life where I rarely need a truck. Even on a couple of occasions where I was hauling a lot of stuff, I just used a trailer. Perhaps what I needed was a smaller SUV w/ a trailer hitch.

I end up with crap in my bed two or three times a week. Stuff that would not fit in my previous Bronco Sport.
And I don’t have to hook up the 5x8 trailer.
My Mav is so handy.

Love the little BS Sasquatch. No hybrid option for the Bronco Sport makes it a non-starter for me but I really enjoy them.

Congrats!

I so sort of agree.

My wife and I were driving and discussing vehicles. We agreed if the can come out with a Bronco Sport with the same hybrid set up, it would fit us better even then our Mav.

An even better choice for us would be a BS that is AWD with a 200 mile battery...to keep the wheels turning on a roadtrip it would also have a range extender motor/generator.

All battery driven but if out in the dead of winter and on the road, no big deal as the engine can kick in if needed to keep the electricity and heat going.

Ahh, just dreaming the dream.

😀

There was an article somewhere last week that pointed to some customer research that the vast majority of midsize trucks, and a significant minority of full size trucks are never used for truck things. They're just image and lifestyle vehicles.

Now the folks who use their whatever-size truck for truck things are a loud and vocal group. So the signal tends to get lost in the noise.

I came soooo close to buying a Bronco Sport instead of my Maverick. The thing that held me back was that you had to buy a very expensive trim just to get out of the three cylinder engine. I've used the bed, but no more than a dozen times a year. I could have easily had that stuff delivered.

That said, I was glad to have the Maverick when getting nasty stuff like bales of straw.

I test drove both - the Outerbanks 3 made such a racket when you stepped on the gas that I knew I couldn't live with it. The Badlands was a bit more expensive, but it has the 4. Ford is making the 4 available for 2026, but they're taking away some standard features to pay for it.
