Adding Navigation to the Maverick Lariat

Just curious if you can use voice to change the temperature? I have the Lariat Lux and the current OEM does not seem to support that (tried it through AA so not sure if the OEM Sync system interface would make it work). Not something overly useful but fun to play with.

If it's enabled on-screen, Sync voice commands should be able to do it as well. Though if you're using Android Auto or CarPlay, it's a little trickier to use Sync voice commands (defaults to Google Assistant or Siri).

Thanks I wondered if the problem was having google be the interface or something else. Be interesting to hear from someone who has android auto running and uses the voice to see if it works that way. Currently it says "Sorry, I can't do that on this vehicle"

I never thought of using voice commands, I'll have to give it a try.

yeah, same here i contacted him as well. said the same thing to me, i was just looking at the 2nd one Shark listed and i am looking at his feedback now. 203 positive 0 negative feedback in the last 12 months. seems okay to me.
but i think i will wait until after i get this recall thing taken care of before ordering.

im sure the discount is for the combined shipping. i might try to hit up a local junk yard to see if they have any 2020 or newer escapes might be able to pull one out of there. then just need to figure out how to program the VIN.

If you have Forscan or know someone that does you can program the VIN yourself.

i just got forscan the other day. i haven't played around with it much yet. just added speed limit signs. my last car had Sync 3 with Nav and the signs appeared on the dash, i got used to looking there for the limits.
but i am guessing it is just going into the APIM module and changing the VIN

Yep, native Sync voice commands and navigation are disabled with Android Auto/CarPlay connected which would require you to disconnect your Android device/iPhone to use said features. Like I said, a bit trickier to access climate voice commands since you'd have to temporarily unplug the device. At which point you're just better off using the physical or on-screen controls...

I have a lariat lux and can change the temp with the voice commands. I don't know how many things it recognizes. I just push the button on the steering wheel. I can post a video later today if that would help.

Yep, just change the vin in the APIM module. Got the traffic signs to work for me but just uses the camera, haven't the found a setting for using the signs with the camera and Nav. The signs however do appear on the center display for Nav.

if i remember correctly, when you activated the TSR there was an option for Camera only or Camera and Navigation. i did see some options to display navigation on the dash as well.

I did camera and navigation but it didn't work, still camera only. I'll have to investigate more. I'd like to find the setting to display the nav directions on the instrument cluster but I'm not sure our instrument cluster will handle that.
