I have had zero success adding Apps via Sync. While Android Auto works fine, I have to continuously change screens from the Android Auto map to the audio page for Sirius XM. I would like everything accessible on one page, but every time I go to add apps, Sync says it cannot find any.

I have a Google Pixel 6 connected via a USB-C cable. I opened the apps on the phone, and still have not been able to add them.

Anyone else having the same difficulty? Anyone using an iPhone able to add apps?

Thanks!

I think I'm following...I see you have a Lariat - are you using the built in satellite antenna to get your SiriusXM feed? If so, you won't be able to access that from Android Auto on the Mav screen.

That said, if you're already paying for a SXM sub, you could download the SXM app to your Pixel and add it to Android Auto. Granted, you'll be using your phone's data to stream it instead of the satellite receiver, but that would keep everything on one screen.

It's been a while since I've used SXM, so I think if you have a car subscription already the phone app should be free.

yazoo1968, only certain apps can be used via Android Auto. Even if the apps are on your phone, most will not be visible thru Android Auto. Music, navigation, text and phone apps seem fine, but apps that are considered to take your attention away from driving usually aren't.

Not sure about Carplay or the Sync 3 apps, but I'm guessin they're the same.

It's a shame as I would like my Aladdin garage door app to show up, but it isn't approved.

If you go to Google Play Store you can search for all Android Auto approved apps. It's a slim list, though.

I believe there's a way to get around all this but it requires special access to your phones operating system and downloading unapproved apps. I wasn't willing to try, or have enough knowledge on how to even do it.

Good luck.

Thank you all. Since my Lariat has the XM antenna, I am looking for an option to use it vs the streaming app. if my wife is streaming in her car, I cannot stream in mine. (First world problems). In reality, it's about getting everything one one "page" to keep from having to scroll. Also, the display on the integrated XM app is much cleaner than that of Android Auto.

I use both, but I only tried to install Waze using Sync because from what I've read, that's all that is supported.

Correct, regarding mobile app. I have a subscription for our car and use the SXM app to listen everywhere else. I'm waiting for my Mav Lariat to be built, so I can't speak to options for simplifying its use in the truck, but I suspect it will require switching between Android Auto mode and Ford Sync to use built-in features plus AA features.

I did this for awhile when I found out I could get a phone app subscription for less than 4.00/month vs almost 20 with the vehicle. They then started calling and giving me ‘special deals’ that I now have the premium package for both car and app through 2025 for less than 120.00.

I did find this on Fords website. Is it possible the highlighted section is the reason no apps are appearing in Sync?

Great point! I had disabled Android auto as Sync won't even entertain the idea of installing apps if it's enabled. With it disabled, and will the apps like Pandora, Spotify and Waze running, I've tried installing them via Sync and keep getting the message that apps cannot be installed. Tried with three different Android based phones, multiple cables, both the USB-C and A ports. Haven't tried an iPhone yet, but if I have no luck with the iPhone, I suspect it's either a software issue with Sync or it specifically has it locked out for whatever reason.
