Accident Happened - Rear Ended

So it finally happened..Small rear ender to my 2022 1st edition Lariat AWD, Ecoboost. An older Mercedes sedan clipped my right rear at maybe 20 or so mph...The driver had good insurance and minimal damage. Cosmetic only...The repair shop did a fantastic job start to finish...But here's the point. DIMINISHED VALUE CLAIM. I've never seen anyone post about this after their accident. In my case his insurance company is liable to pay me for the diminished value due to the accident on my truck. In my case, the initial offer was $875.00 but I negotiated up to $2100.00 which was about 10% of the value of my truck. I could get actually more than $21,000 but that was where his cap was I could tell so without me having to do alot more work on my own including paying out of pocket for an appraisal I took the offer

Ahh noo sorry about your Mav! The Benz looks like it got the most damage but hard to tell from that pic. What was the total damages and cost to fix your Mav? Any more pics? Is it showing that it was in an accident on Carfax, Autocheck etc?

So far I don't see anything on Carfax. Total cost was $4600..But the diminished value claim I had to ask for..Insurance companies don't openly offer it I believe

Haven’t gotten hit or even dinged yet but it can happen anytime.

At least the damage was minor. I got something similar in the last rear-end accident I was in, even though the damage was negligible. It was only $2,500, and I think it was just some token "do not sue us" money. I was happy to take it as I had no intention of suing anyway.

That said, a Mercedes almost bought me a new truck yesterday. I was crossing an intersection after it turned green, and the dude appeared not to notice his red light. He was coming at me broadside. I floored the gas at about the same time he hit his brakes. My thought process was that it was better for him to hit the bed than my wife's door. Fortunately, the road was dry, and his tires were in good condition. I only had to listen to my wife bless him out for the rest of the drive...

Travelers…Reporting to Carfax is voluntary, which is why you can’t rely on it to be giving you a complete history of a car.

This happened to me. Not on the Maverick. Body shop repainted both passenger side doors due to scratch from my wonderful wife backing out of garage and scraping alongside of car with mower. No insurance claim. No insurance notification. Paid out of pocket. Showed up as accident on Carfax.

Everyone is selling our private information.
