The wording treats AI as though it necessarily makes humanity “dumber.” That conclusion does not follow automatically.

• Automation has historically shifted skills rather than simply erased them. Calculators reduced routine arithmetic practice for some people but enabled more complex engineering, science, finance, and data analysis.
• Mundane-task automation can free attention for higher-value work. If AI removes busywork, people may devote more time to judgment, relationships, strategy, creativity, and difficult problem-solving.
• Humans still choose the system design. Schools, employers, governments, and software designers determine whether AI encourages copying or requires explanation, verification, accountability, and learning.
• Job effects are mixed. AI can eliminate tasks and certain roles, but it can also create new work, alter existing occupations, and increase productivity. The distribution of those gains is the critical question.

Yes we must resist the adoption of ALL new technology. Bring back phone operators, going into the bank to cash a check so we employ more tellers, eliminate online bill pay so more postal workers are needed to deliver payments with paper checks, more printing jobs to print checks, bring back paper newspapers no more online news, etc. Now for further reading.

My grandfather said every generation gets weaker. Back in his day he was referring to physical strength as mechanization was replacing human brute force. Same likely applied today for intellectual strength. AI is just accelerating the path.

In my opinion, definitely not everyone's.
AI is a tool, not a replacement for human judgment, and there is a real risk that relying on it too much can blunt critical thinking.

In my layman terms. I think of AI as a compiler and collator of information. Whether that's good or bad information, it doesn't really separate that very well.

My fear is that AI will start packaging stuff in a nice little box that everybody will accept and nobody will be willing to be different, maybe even controversial by thinking outside the box. Life is boring when everybody thinks the same way.

I originally thought that Jeff bezos was nuts. Starting up a book delivery company, at a time when it seemed that the country was going to e-books, including his own Kindle device.
Bezos warned many early investors that there was a 70% chance that Amazon would fail or go bankrupt.

Ever see a movie called Wall-E ?

WALL-E is a 2008 Pixar computer-animated sci-fi film directed by Andrew Stanton. Set in 2805 on a trash-covered, abandoned Earth, it follows a lonely trash-compacting robot named WALL-E who falls in love with a sleek probe named EVE and chases her across the galaxy on an adventure to save humanity.
All of humanity is on a star ship getting super fat because everything is done for them.

Aging is the active pursuit of comfort.

Don't go out side it’s too hot, too cold.
Don’t lift that it’s too heavy.
Keep it up, you’ll need bigger pants and you’ll have a shorter life and see many doctors who don’t know much.
As you age out miserably.

The body and the mind must be challenged and exercised.
Driving aids lessen the challenge as does a sedentary life style.
