I got the typical Mazda/Subaru/Hyundai mirror with auto-dimming and home-link, and honestly, the rear window on the Lariat is tinted so dark to begin with that the dimming is hardly noticeable.

The home-link is nice.

That frameless looks really sharp.

"honestly, the rear window on the Lariat is tinted so dark to begin with that the dimming is hardly noticeable."

I have found the same in my Lariat, the lights from directly behind are not much of an issue, however the lights in the side mirror are. Not sure what I can do about that?

My last two vehicles, 2014 Mazda6 and 2018 Buick TourX also had the side mirror dimming. The Maverick really is a step back in many ways. It feels more like my 1999 Ranger for cheapness in quality, but with just a few electronic gizmos, if that makes sense. I am still satisfied with it as I always seem to own vehicles more for utility.

I owned 3 Rangers over 33 years with a combined 550,000 miles. The Maverick is much more then a few gizmos ahead of the classic Ranger.

Improved suspension with coil overs with mono tube shocks on some trims. Bye bye torsion bars.
Independent rear suspension
Intelligent AWD System that rivals anything on the road
Much more fuel efficient engines with more power an torque
Smoother 8 speed tranny.
4 Doors as as opposed to two doors, 2 extra cab half doors and two horrible jump seats.

All this before we even get into the electronic gizmos. My 23 FX/4 is a marvel of engineering at $30,600 MSRP. I could not even touch a dopey Santa Cruz for that. My 05 FX/4 had an MSRP of $27,500. I paid $21,000.

It comes down to the Mav being a super cheap hybrid - the price point shows in some of the options and features.

Its not a camera & the extra reverse wiring is to disable dimming when in reverse

My old 2005 Lincoln LS had a dimming side mirror, so Ford has had the tech for a long time.
