My '24 XLT does not work that way. If I turn off HVAC before I turn off the engine, when I turn the engine back on, HVAC is not on. I live in Orlando, Florida. It is ALWAYS humid.
That's correct, if the HVAC is completely off, it stays off. We're talking about HVAC being on, but not AC. AC will cycle on & off automatically, pending cab level humidity, regardless of the setting, IF the HVAC is ON.

It's not temperature dependent, it's based on humidity levels in the cab. I don't know the data point trigger, probably something in the 60% range. All Maverick HVAC's have functioned this way since day 1 with the '22 model.
Ah, thx that makes sense. I think the outcome is pretty similar regardless.

It’s easy enough to press AC if the glass starts fogging up! But I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford found that many people don’t know to do that.

I turn my A/C off before I turn off my engine. When I start my engine again, the A/C does not come back on unless I turn it on. Did they change that for '25?
Climate control / AC
Same here on my 2023. I push the big temperature button and turn everything off before I shut down the engine.
When I restart the truck, nothing comes back on.
I can drive all day with the climate control / AC off and nothing turns itself on automatically. NEVER
I guess I'll have to do a video.

The headlights.
On my 2023 XLT if DRL is activated the low beam headlights are used as Daylight Running Lights.
So yes, they are on in the bright sunshiny day.
I don't know if they made changes to 2025-2026 non Lariat models. I know the lariats have stylized LED running lights.

Apparently, much like the "My Maverick locked itself!" issue, people are talking about two different things here. As dalola mentioned, apparently the issue is that if you turn on the HVAC at all, if it's humid in the cabin, the A/C automatically activates. They're not talking about the HVAC activating itself automatically.

The OB stated he had his windows open. I assume that he would have his climate control off.

Anytime any OP says "If you disagree with me, this thread is not for you", it is like a five star alarm going off, alerting everyone to disagree with him/her.

Huge Clue! This is the Web. People have opinions. They usually aren't the same as yours. And when you basically say "This thread is only for people who agree with me", it is like wearing a big sign that says "Please kick me".

The HVAC does automatically come on even when not in auto. I almost always turn the HVAC off when I get out of my Mav, especially in winter. About 80% of the time when I get back in, the fan is back on. I don't understand how the algorithm decides to keep it off 20% of the time, but it seems to default to "on". Especially frustrating in winter since I turned it off because I don't want 5F air blowing in my face.

In addition, the A/C will also frequently automatically turns one when it gets warmer out. I assume due to humidity as mentioned because otherwise, why would it come on when the HVAC is set to 72F, but it's only 60F out and not that warm inside the vehicle.

So ... what's the point of a button for "Auto" if it's going to do auto anyway? *shrug* ... I guess for the illusion of control lol.

Life is short. If these features really bother you so much, sell the vehicle.
You are never going to get Ford to do anything even if a thousand people agree with you.
If these features drive you crazy, start pulling fuses until the nasty things stop working.

I can't promise you'll never have to fill your AC but forcing it off multiple months a year will have you seeping gas from dry seals.

I like auto headlamps, not so much the auto high beams though.

Unless there is a glitch that happens (seen it despite process of AC off, HVAC off, truck off) - the AC button does NOT light up as if it's pushed.

The AC is being enabled behind the scenes for humidity control - unless you have fan speed such that you'd feel it - you might never.

But the HVAC does have to be on at minimum.
Which is a good way to experience it.
HVAC off when it's humid - or enough people it soon will be and you can see it starting on windows.
HVAC on, fan span 3, AC button off, upper vent only.
Now someone feel the foot vent, or defrost vents, despite not being selected. And feel the temp out of upper vents.
When the windows are better, note the other vents.

Mine will START with the AC on if the ambient temp is high, but will never come on by itself while driving. Still not gonna lose sleep over these....
