actually, you don't have to enable the transmission tuning option. you can use their 87, 91, or 93 maps with or without it.

or you could install a device that doesn't do anything at all to the transmission tuning, like a JB4.
Correct but then I wonder about the extra power on the factory map from Ford.

I don't drive my vehicles hard and don't anticipate stressing the EB to its limits however it is a fickle engine and if it has problems I do not want to give Ford an easy pass on addressing the issue.

It's definitely got a mind of it's own in the low gears. Seen a couple posts on here about 4k ones being a bit more awkward than the standard ones in the low end.

I think it's just a poor "eco" mapping. They shift so quick and try to force you to barely move off the line so it can shift super low and all that does is cause it to hunt for gears in the low end.

Leaving my downhill driveway in the morning, my transmission often gets a little clumsy from 1st to 2nd and my FX4/4K only has 1.400 miles on it.

I do agree these trucks do not like to hold their gears. I’m hoping when I add Sports mode via Forscan it will hold gears better!

I really miss my manual.
how does it act in tow mode :)

Tow mode would hold the gears when I first tried it.

Another time, I selected tow mode and i got a warning light saying it wasn’t available.

I got sketched out and haven’t tried it since.

Second thing I noticed when driving my new Maverick...the first couple of shifts felt strange...but I was used to a Tacoma 4 speed. I just have over 1,000 miles...so plenty of warranty time.

Just wondering if anyone has been experiencing issue's with the Mav 8 spd transmission. My 2023 Mav XLT AWD ecoboost seems to have a trans issue going from 1st to 2nd. It seems a little herky jerky trying to make that transition. In other words it's not real smooth. My truck is new so I haven't talked to the dealer about it yet. Plenty of warranty time left. Just wanted to drive it a bit more before I approach the dealer about it. Curious if this is widespread or just specific to my vehicle.
I have the same truck, have noticed some surging between 1st and 2nd when taking off when towing something.will be following the issue for sure.it could be normal for this transmission? First new Ford I've bought since the 80,s.

I’ve got about 18,000 on my 4K, I’ve seen a little jerky behavior on the 1-2 shift, but mostly when the power train is cold. I think it is a combination of cold moving parts competing with the fuel management that wants to get everything up to normal temperature ranges.

If I keep my pedal position steady things smooth out, if I try to quickly adjust I think I just confuse the computer — have to remember there’s no mechanical connections, everything is a “request” that’s interpreted by sensors and algorithms.

One fun thing, if I have to back out of my driveway, after I shift from reverse into drive the throttle response to pedal input is cut in half for a solid second. I’m sure this is to reduce damage to the drivetrain, but sometimes there’s traffic that pops up from around the curve and I need to get going immediately!

What I like about this forum is input from other owners, I thought my truck was unique with this issue.

I have noticed the abrupt shifting, but it seems to be much more evident when cold. When I change the mode to eco it tends to smooth out. Possibly due to skipping the low gears.

I also tend to be very light on the pedal which I think is harder on the transmission. I have 2,400 miles on a 2023 XLT ecoboost FWD.
