There's a couple small things I like about the Santa Cruz....the tub storage under the bed, the little spot to step on to climb into the bed, etc..... but I think Ford has a much better price point, a standard hybrid engine, and most of all....longevity. It'll take time to see if Hyundai can get some inroads into the pickup industry. I think they would have been better off starting will a full size pickup vs a small crossover pickup or whatever they call it.
I'm sure there will be decent sales of the Santa Cruz, but Ford will dwarf those numbers in Maverick sales. The recent numbers for Maverick are much higher than the Cruz, and the Hybrids haven't even received the OKTB. I think first quarter 2022 Maverick sales numbers will be through the roof.

Edmunds just did a comparo video. Dude basically trashed the Maverick and said that he would rather get the SC for daily driving. Oh, well.

He didn't mention price. The base Santa Cruz is 4k more expensive than the base Maverick.

The Santa Cruz is a nice vehicle but based on this review I think the Maverick is a better value.

That's great news! Maybe a bunch of guys will bail on the Maverick and I will get mine sooner.

I think the SC looks good, actually never looked one up but heard people say they were ugly which i dont agree. The maverick is nice looking also, i am not a buyer of the SC due to price range of the hybrid but if it was the same range i would go with the SC. The 100k warranty would of got me.

The Santa Cruz is ugly AF. It reminds of the old Suburu Brat

Ford Maverick Finally Maverick vs Santa Cruz side by side in the same video! Suburu Brat

This is why I went with ford. Integrated brake controller from factory. Jeep even does it with the Cherokee Trailhawk max tow. Hyundai dropped the bomb on that one.....

It wasn't that long ago you couldn't give me a Hyundai but they have come up in the world. I think if the Santa Cruze was cheaper I might buy one for the extra towing capacity but for the money I think the Maverick is the way to go. On the brake controller thing my 20 Ranger had no brake controller and only a short pigtail by the drivers side front door kick panel and it was a pita to make to solder connections for a aftermarket controller. Glad they fixed that on the Maverick. Too bad Hyundai didn't add one with their tow package.

The Santa Cruz bed is rated for 661 lbs. The Maverick I've seen is rated for 1500 payload capacity. But Payload capacity I believe means total of passengers and cargo combined. Correct me if I'm wrong. If someone could look in thier owners manual to verify what the max weight is recommended for just the bed itself? I've tried to on the internet but can't get a clear answer. If the Maverick can really put 1500 lbs in the bed, that would be a HUGE difference.

Also, the Santa Cruz interior looks more upscale than the maverick, but also looks more busy and cramped IMO. The SC has that horrid gloss black dash trim. Don't know why car makers keep using it. Looks cheap, shows fingerprints, and reflects sunlight. Also the SC has a higher mid center console. Ford deliberately made the center console lower than the seat bottoms. This was so that when someone is sitting with their legs spread slightly, the drivers right knee and the passengers left knee won't be up against the middle console. Smart. Also by having a lower middle console and a flat upper console rather that the SC's that slopes downwards, it makes the cabin roomier. I like the simpler clean interior of the Maverick. Only thing I don't like is the lack of a CD player. But that is not just the Maverick. After 2018, most cars and trucks stopped offering them.

No thanks on the SC. I'm sure they'll have some happy owners but it cannot do truck things - where as the Mav can do truck things when asked to.

Sticking with the Mav. Wouldn't even consider the SC at that price point I would move on to a different vehicle.
