Out of curiosity… Anyone attempted or even thought of using 4 ramps to do fluid changes? Instead of using numerous jack stands. Seems like it would be beneficial especially for transmission drain and fills as far as the leveling part of it. If this is a bad idea that’s fine. Just wanted to know if anyone has done it this way.
Made a set out of 2x10's. Work great . Cost me $35

These are two ramps for change engine oil and trans fluid. I guess you could make them 8-10 ft long to get all four wheels up

Sorry but no way would I even attempt that. I just don’t know the load ratings nor the safety of that. I just do the jacks and multiple jack stands. I just did the oil change and tire rotation on my Maverick yesterday and did it with two floor jacks and five 4 ton jack stands. I take the time to properly set up and do a jiggle test to make sure I am safe. The ramps just sound like the latest gene pool elimination test. Sorry it is just my opinion.

At 70 I use mostly ramps now.
Sometimes I even chock the wheels.

bumper jacks are awesome, right until it slips your mind that "park" on a front wheel drive Eldorado doesn't lock the rear wheels . . .

it bent the bottom plate of the jack, and I need to find another.

I use quick jacks, as I do a rotation every time I do an oil change.
Which quick jack model do you use? Been debating on buying one but stuck on which model to get.

I can't remember for sure. They are packed up storage currently. Sold the house recently and we are building. I believe the 5000TL but might be the base model, bought them when I had a Miata, so I got the biggest one that would fit that wheelbase. They are great for what the are. Customer service is great.

Gotcha. Was there any concerns with the lift point spread being too short to reach both points that Ford recommends?

Your opinion doesn't matter. These are much stronger than those plastic ramps and these that I made will work fine for regular autos but probably wouldn't use them on a dump truck. Use what you prefer to use, these just make the job easier for oil changes

Latest? People have been using ramps like this for decades. The load rating is easy enough to find, and the plastic ones are typically rated at 6500 lbs each which is more than suitable for a ~3,600lb Maverick. Five 4-ton jack stands for an oil change is massive overkill though, so if that's what you need to feel safe you should probably stay away from them.

The only downside I see to these vs. commercially-made ramps is that there is no resistance to rolling backwards off the ramps. Using two would be fine paired with chocks, but I would hesitate to use four of them at once as the OP was inquiring for that reason. But yeah, my opinion doesn't matter either since I'm not using them.

No, but if I were buying one now that I don't have the Miata. I would go for a bigger one for obvious reasons. I do have 4 of the aluminum pinch weld jack pads that I use.
