The way I see it is if people on this forum are having lots of issues imagine all the ones that don't post on forums that are probably having the same issue.

Research has shown that it usually is the complainers that post the most, and people without complaints don't jump on the internet to brag all that much- they just go about their business. That was why someone actually started a thread here the other day wanting people to post POSITIVE stuff about their Mavericks.

Besides, the Warranty is provided for helping those that have real problems and not just repeating what they heard or read elsewhere

When I worked R&D for a major mobile phone manufacturer, they gave everyone who wanted it a pre-production sample of each new phone and had people log their problems in internal database. All part of QA process as new products are developed.

Correct. The mules give the information to the manufacturer and not the buyer. The Q&A people don't decide when to go to manufacturing. It's done behind closed doors with Managers and Bean Counters.
Remember the CHALLENGER. NASA had a date and they were going no matter what the Q&A Engineers had to say in conference.

Can you explain where you got this information? Makes no sense, as all new models from any major OEM are typically in the 24-36 month range (independent of recent covid delays...) from concept to production.

It's a new vehicle made in a supply chain constrained world.

There will be issues with some vehicles that don't show up no matter how much testing they do.

It sucks if you happened to get the one in ten thousand defect on yours. But it's not because they didn't test thoroughly or rushed the process.

While I understand the concern, and being stranded in the middle of the road is scary, on the other hand it is under warranty and they should fix it, or give you a rental until such time as it is fixed and deemed safe. So other than an inconvenience, no money should be required on your part. Now if this happens every day or week or even month, then yeah, that would be a different story and I would definitely consider getting rid of it. I hope when I get mine everything will go smoothly.

I am thinking about dropping the maverick hybrid with 3k miles on it. I absolutely loved mine too, but I absolutely must have a reliable vehicle.

When I was accelerating onto a road, probably at about 60-70% power my maverick's engine stopped working. It flashed "stopped safely now". The problem was, I was in traffic and in the middle lane. I also got stuck at a light. When I came to a stop at the light it shut off completely, I couldn't turn it back on, I couldn't even shift it into drive or neutral to push it. After a few minutes i was able to get it started again, but only in full electric mode so that I could limp to the side of the road.

I have never even accelerated to 100% with this truck, never towed anything, and I normally drive it like a grandma to get the best mpg, so I have really babied it. Very upsetting experience. Makes me worried about future reliability. Looks like this has happened to other people as well, waiting on the dealership to provide me with some details on what is wrong.

I'm getting 43k for a trade in on a tacoma. It'll be gone soon. I've had numerous issues with mine, so it's probably a lemon through and through.

I am sorry you had this trouble. I was excited to get a gen 1 Chevy Volt and it died on me when I was in the middle lane on the San Mateo Bridge at rush hour, with traffic zipping along at 75+. I was lucky to escape that experience alive (not hyperbole) as I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw a truck coming at me and the driver busily texting away. Nevertheless, they fixed it and I never had another problem. Fingers crossed that Ford fixes any problems we encounter.

When you rush to market to try and beat the competition bad things will happen. Three years were cut off the development and testing while the Maverick team was surviving on cookies. For the next three years we will be the test mule while Ford tries to get things right.

So much for the $19,900 Truck. Most buyers walked out of the dealer with a 23k to 35k truck and that is still a bargain for any vehicle.

You have to remember that development and validation testing for the Maverick occurred during Covid. You need to think back about everyone that could working from home and limited staffing. If they were testing a vehicle on the track they would have had to wear masks and probably would only allow one test engineer in the car otherwise. Somefolks don’t realize what a toll that probably took. Meetings were probably virtual without a lot of joint testing and work between various groups and individuals that normally occurs. Considering that, I think it’s amazing things have gone this well. I’m a former test engineer with a competitor auto OEM. I can only imagine how it was during Covid but I have similar experience. They did good to have as few issues as they are having.

I think a few other people on this forum have had the same issues. At this point I would classify the Maverick hybrid in the extremely unreliable category... All these issue have made me nervous about getting mine now..My current vehicle has never let me down and it's a Kia. I need reliability and that's what a new vehicle should be giving you... Keep us posted on the fix.

We only hear about people with issues. This site has thousands of people on it and except for one thread talking about all the positives with a limited number of posters on it, thousands and thousands of owners have gone months without any issues.
