Those companies (except for Lada) can buy a golden parachute ticket for a billion bucks and be exempt from tarriffs.

It's true, trust me.
I was thinking more of the poor folks shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Now they'll have to drive a (spit, spit) Chevrolet.

Ford can suck it. It’s American company and they should make their products here with American jobs and unions. The CEOs can weep later when they loose a fraction of a 8 digit income.

First off I'm not endorsing any political party or motives or tactics or reasoning for the newly announced tariffs. I live in the Detroit metro area and just trying to get the facts. I find the following stipulation interesting on the newly announced auto tariffs..........
  • Importers of automobiles under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement will be given the opportunity to certify their U.S. content and systems will be implemented such that the 25% tariff will only apply to the value of their non-U.S. content.
    • USMCA-compliant automobile parts will remain tariff-free until the Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), establishes a process to apply tariffs to their non-U.S. content.
Looks like possibly the Maverick may not receive the full 25% tariff, rather just a percentage based on the non American made parts used to assemble it.
This is always the way tariffs have worked. Tariff only applies to the foreign sourced content and assembly.

just going to be ridiculous to try and calculate that.

1x 1/2" rubber hose - china
64 screws - korea
4 bolts - mexico
1 tube of maple syrup - canada
4 sheets steel - usa
etc. etc. etc.

who's going to count every little piece to determine the percentage of where? what happens if they have multiple suppliers for a given part in different countries? crazy.
Every manufacturer has to keep this data already, They know the foreign content and assembly values as there are already tariffs.

Ok lets shut this one down since it applies across the board and guess what? We don't do politics here....
Never used to do politics was a great place to talk but now sort of stuck in the middle of it.

If you have a signed sales agreement (DORA) with your dealer, no need to worry...you are price protected.
This horse has been beaten to death…had a 2025 on order, went to pre-pay since I will be out of the country delivery week, and brother would pickup….My contract with dealer has a fixed price on his invoice…but no total. Dealer’s contract lists agreed on price then the words “PLUS APPLICABLE TAXES”….and dealer would not give me the final price until he knows what the final tax will be….and he meant Tariff Tax….Google “tariff” and you will see it is a tax….my dealer was nice enough about the subject, he was lost as to what how much tariffs would be, but I simply ask for my deposit back, and I'd keep my Mav XLT trade-in…Totally ethical honest dealership!

Dealer was in a bind with the on and off tariffs, he could not plan advertising, staffing, and several of his best salesmen had left due to the limbo!

Tariff is only on foreign parts, is probably will not be in the $2,000 or $3,000 range, maybe $1,000-$2,000….dealer does not have a clue.

Hopefully this will cause more vehicles to be built in the US, creating more jobs for US citiizens, and eventually lower vehicle prices.
Ideally. However, consider the time and expense of re-tooling existing production lines in the US (or building new production facilities). Add to that the cost of labor in the US and lower vehicle prices is a remote possibility. People say they are willing to pay more for products made in the US - but. . . . .
