Separate programs. In theory both would apply if Ford increases the pricing on '23MY Mavericks at some point during the production year. So if built after that you'd get protected to the price of your 9/15-21/2022 order plus the rollover PCO.
Price protection applies to '22 builds. For '23s the private offer replaces price protection (assuming no price increases by Ford in the interim between placing a '23 order and accepting delivery).
I agree, there isn't much a customer can do, dealers can pretty much do what they want with their vehicles. I'll also be going through this soon, although I will walk away if the OTD price and financing are not what I want.
Thought I read somewhere on this forum Ford is not price protecting the 23's. To me that means if the price increases after you placed the order you are screwed. Hope it's not true. But even with the 22"s price protection is something that has no real program that you can count on. My dealer told me I should be price protected.
