On the 2027 Maverick I would probably say no they aren't equipped yet.
Every 2027 model passenger vehicle sold in the United States will not automatically feature a mandatory interior infrared driver-facing camera, as a widespread federal "kill switch" or anti-drunk driving camera mandate by 2027 has been delayed. However, infrared driver-monitoring systems (DMS) are already common or standard in specific models equipped with advanced semi-autonomous hands-free driving tech.

Ill echo that! If I need a new(er) maverick ill look at 25/26 YM. Im sure as time goes on, someone will find the right fuse to pull or forscan mod, but until then its a big "no thanks".

Ford is set to have a big reveal going on at the 2026 Woodward Dream Cruise (Michigan) so who knows maybe it is Maverick related - though I suspect it maybe Mustang related - It is August 15th (the Cruise) so theoretically would make sense (if maverick related) to delay orders opening till the Monday after

ah, they'll probably be unveiling the EV Fathom - that's the new Ford big news, so far we've only seen pix of the papered over ones - they'll likely pull the paper and show us what's behind the curtain.

If it's a big reveal it's Fathom or Mach 4. No real Maverick news should be coming this year.

On a Toyota you should just be able to put a piece of tape over the camera. No long term experience but driving one the other day the camera is just above and behind the steering wheel hub. While driving I was able to place my finger over it and it quit reporting.

Was there something that said it quit reporting? As time goes on, I'm wondering if manufacturers will inhibit the starting of the car if the camera is blocked? And a report will be generated in some database somewhere that you are consistently blocking the camera?

No. To be clear I only held my finger over it a few minutes while looking away and I didn't get the stupid warning. Would I get a different warning if covered long term? I don't know but I'd have a hard time buying a car where you couldn't disable it somehow.
