There's a ratcheting locking mechanism that prevents it from tilting back unless tilted fully forwards first.

Not in my '26 Lariat, seems it was decontented.

does the 2026 lariat hybrid come with attenuating headrests ?

I don't know about the 26 but the front head rests in my 22 will auto tilt forward in a frontal collision to shorten the distance of head travel and, I believe help head & neck positioning some what.
