Do you drive 5k miles a year because you have multiple vehicles? Also, do you anticipate that changing (different job, longer commute, etc.)? Is your commute more City or is it more highway/rural? I know some folks get the hybrid and find that since they like it more and it is more fuel efficient, they drive that way more than the other cars. So that might change your calculations.

As for AWD - most people do not need AWD. If you get a lot of snow, FWD w/good snow tires will beat an AWD w/all seasons any day.

SideBar on that subject...
I have experience on that. (Have had My 2022 FWD for over 19 months now).
Seems folks with AWD/4WD drive MORE carelessly in bad weather conditions..
It's there to assist YOU, not let you do 20mph over in a Snow/Ice Storm..

I drive a lot for work so my employer provides a vehicle. Unfortunately it is telematic equipped and I can only use it for work purposes. I love my job and don't see this arrangement changing anytime soon. My personal vehicle is mainly used for short errands around town with semi-frequent 1-2 hour road trips on the highway.

I hear ya on the AWD, but I mainly want it for hunting season. I drive some trails in the woods that get a little sketchy in the mud after any rain. Nothing too hardcore but just enough to get me stuck in FWD.

You've inspired me to do the calculation. Will take time to recoup cost but idk about decades unless we are figuring in extra hybrid maintenance (which I am honestly ignorant of so please educate me if I'm missing something).

I averaged the posted city and highway mpg. Hybrid 37.5 mpg and EB 25 mpg.

Hybrid: 5000 miles/37.5 mpg = 133.3 gallons per year. 133 gallons x $3 per gallon = $400 gas expense per year

EB: 5000 miles/25 mpg = 200 gallons per year. 200 gallons x $3 per gallon = $600 gas expense per year

$200 differential per year = 7.5 years to break even.
The big variable is the future cost of fuel.

The AWD Hybrid will officially become Ford's new unicorn for MY 25. Expect a long wait, maybe not quite a year like I waited for my FX/4 but close I predict. Oh, and expect very large ADM's from the dealer for those that just cannot wait.

For those that score, it is going to be one incredible truck.

I put in a 2024 order through Granger this week since I read their huge thread here and people seemed to have had a great experience with them. They put it in immediately and hopefully I'll hear about a scheduling in the next month but I'm not counting on it. 🤣
The main reason I ordered through them was because I knew they had allotments and $1000 off MSRP didn't suck and I couldn't get anyone locally to give me the $1000 off. One dealer tried but they erased the advantage with a $700 doc fee.

Why worry about a vehicle that doesn't exist? Even if they do make a 4WD Hybrid, you'll be waiting forever to get one. And I'm sure it'll be over MSRP, no matter where you buy it.
not to mention...you probably do not want to buy it the 1st year it's released....

Hi everyone,

I've been on the fence but finally ready to order a Maverick. Hoping for XLT AWD Hybrid but may settle for XLT FX4 eco boost AWD (need orange-free interior). I understand order banks and specs release August 1 and I have a few questions.

1. Is there an advantage to ordering August 1st vs later in the opening week?

2. I understand this is speculative, but what does the brain trust guess the wait/build time is for AWD Hybrid? I can be patient, just curious on everyone's thoughts.

3. Price increase. I'm having a hard time mathing my "line in the sand" price differential for AWD Hybrid vs AWD Ecoboost. I only drive about 5k per year but I love the idea of hybrid because I'm so cheap I often decline 1-2 hour day trips due to gas prices. (I drive a 13 mpg 1998 Dodge ram) So, please walk me through your thoughts on prices for XLT AWD Hybrid. How much more would you pay for AWD hybrid, and why? No right or wrong answer here I just want to hear other perspectives. Thanks!!
there's no harm in ordering 8/1 there definitely is no advantage to ordering later (what's the concern here?) , you for sure don't want to find out next year that you were 1 or 2 dealer allocations out of the running. As an aside (I'm cheap also...) declining day trips and life experiences that could be joyful entertaining and worthwhile just to save a few bucks on gas is not a great tradeoff. Life is short - go out there and enjoy it, there's far more satisfaction in living your life than it is looking at a few more thousands of $ in your savings account.

Sorry I see now that I worded that weirdly, but I'm trying to determine the importance of ordering day 1 vs. later in the week. As in, are my odds of getting AWD Hybrid (if it exists) diminished by waiting a few days?

Yes and no on 1. If your ordering from a big maverick dealer let say Long McArthur as example then yes .
2. We have no idea but I don’t think adding AWD hybrid will make the wait longer than a hybrid already has . Is change for sure but not plug in per say
3. There is price increase of course the current price for base xl is like 24k so I except a base larait AWD hybrid to be 35k . Base nothing else except standard equipment .
Ref: Item #3. The current 2wd hybrid Lariat is over $35k already. So given '25 model pricing and AWD how about $37k, maybe more?

Welcome, Fellow 2025 orderer! Personally, I'm planning for an Eruption Green XLT Hybrid AWD! That said, I've had to set a drop-dead price of $37k (after all the options I want), and I'm worried I won't be able to make that happen.

2. Wait time: I'm planning for 6-8 months. MOST of the supply chain constraints are solved, but I think the AWD components might be a challenge if they're the eAWD system that's shared with the Escape. Ford can probably get plenty of those parts, but can they get them to Mexico in a timely manner? Not sure. Obviously I'm hoping for less!

3. I don't think they will increase the price ($1500) for Hybrid. However, I would expect AWD to be AT LEAST the same cost, if not more like $2000-2500. If the AWD option also increases tow capacity, then expect it to be on the high end of that range. I am only really willing to buy an AWD option if it increases the tow rating, so I would pay $2500 IF it brought the tow capacity closer to 4K lbs.

Ultimately, the Maverick is a PERFECT fit for my needs, and there is no real competition on the market. Therefore, I am willing to pay SOME premium - but even I have limits.

My only 2 hesitations are price and removal of more physical buttons. I'd also be lying if I didn't say Eruption Green was a MAJOR draw for me.

(Lastly, if anyone reading this hates the 2025 grille & fascia, you don't need to hate on those of us who like it. You've made your opinion clear!)

The EB will/should average about 28mpg. My 2023 with the 4k Tow Package is about 29mpg, on average.

I would think your odds decrease in any scenario, one thing is for sure - the odds are not going to be any better the longer you wait. You'd hate to find out that you 'lost' because you waited a few days. Yep, it'll probably be busy on 8/1 and you do still need to go to the dealer and finalize after you put your online order in but being in line as soon as you can would be the best strategy.
