My Maverick (Hybrid Lariat) was in an accident in July - relatively minor, no injuries, and not at fault, for whatever that's worth.

Unfortunately though, the ECU connection is on the driver's side bumper, and that was knocked loose and damaged, which made it un-drivable.
It's been at the shop since then with the wiring harness on backorder for over 2 months.

This has been very frustrating - not an acceptable time to wait given that these vehicles are still in production (even knowing they changed some things for 2025), and has definitely given me pause about buying another Ford in the future (and I'm also a Bronco owner.)

Is anyone else in this situation? Any solutions?

If you have the part number maybe you could do some checking online to see if any dealers happen to have it in stock?

A Ford parts department can run the part number on a site called "OE Connection" and see if any other dealers may have one for sale.

I would hope the body shop knows to do this and has already made an inquiry but it wouldn't hurt for the OP to ask.

I'm a retired Ford parts guy and back ordered parts that can last many months is why I've kept my 2002 Explorer around as a backup.

That's disappointing. The connectors are probably readily available from their manufacturer, but your shop wants to pay 10x more and wait indefinitely for the Motorcraft part number instead.

Thanks, all! The part number is PU5Z12A581AXB. In my experience - parts often show up online listed as "in stock" but they aren't. I'll do some investigating - I'll try OE Connection later today.

I had a similar situation, my connector was damaged in a slight front end collision. I was lucky that the repair shop got a connector from somewhere. However the grill was cracked and replaced; the Ford logo that goes in the middle of the grill is on backorder for 6 weeks. Luckily I can drive the truck while I wait.

Here's a screenshot from a Ford parts manager that was kind enough to look this up for me. I can't believe these aren't available - especially since Mavericks are still being made (although I realize parts and the manufacturing line for new vehicles are 2 different chains.)

Definitely a frustrating experience. I'll keep this thread updated for posterity.

Hi All,

Another update: it's been over 3 months now with no news on parts availability and State Farm won't total out the vehicle. And I say this as a very enthusiastic (probably former) Maverick owner: my perspective is still that the 2025 Maverick isn't repairable. This has been a very disappointing experience.

I have never hired a lawyer in my life for something like this, but this is unfortunately going to have to be a lawyer's job now. I sincerely hope that I'm in the minority and most owners won't have to deal with this.

I assume the part is not even temporarily repairable so you could drive the truck until the needed part is available. Maybe there's one available at a salvage part, plenty of new Mav's must be getting totaled out that have this part surviving.
