I've noticed that ford is trying to save a few bucks by not including keyless entry on the lariats anymore. sad. I've also seen that the mounting location is now on the door above the handle. I prefer the pillar mounted keypad. Does anyone know if the 2022 keypad will work on the 2025 models?

Being these keypads are wireless I assume the location is flexible? Are there distance restriction? I would maybe consider mounting this out of sight on the trim on the rear of the cab any one else installed in a creative location?

I’m going to try for inside of the gas tank door.
Only works for eco boost as you don’t have a lever to pull on the insode of truck.
mine should be here any day and my dealership is only programming and not sticking to the truck.

Yeah that’s creative for sure, my gas door is locked as you mentioned so I was looking to install it out of clear sight

The 22-23's had a different door, which had a recess for the keypad. It wasn't just a stick-on.

Here is a picture of a Maverick factory key pad door. Look to me like a press punched hole is made during the manufacturing of the door.

Ford doesn't offer a wired keypad on any vehicles now, as it saves them from having to punch holes in some of the doors, and the cost of wiring it up. I have a wired keypad on my 2017 F350, and it's kinda nice, but I rarely use it. A new F350 wouldn't have one, and it's not an option. I didn't add the wireless keypad on my Maverick, which is fine for me, as the proximity keyless entry works well.

The batteries in the wireless keypads are non-replaceable, officially, but I've heard you can get them open if you really want to. I've also heard that the battery should last around 5 years under normal use.

To replace the batteries in the stick-on keypad is a little more involved.
Ford didn't want to make it so easy. That anybody could come up, pop the cover off, take the battery and you end up being locked out. 😳 Not that it would actually happen.
This is an old thread. I'm willing to bet not much has changed.

Does/did your keypad look like mine?

The plug and guts of the keypad are on the inside of the pillar.
The buttons, faceplate and gasket are on the outside of the pillar.
