2025 difference in tailgate handles, any ideas what it's for?

Hey all, I've been looking at all the 2025 maverick stuff and was wondering why some of them have a different tailgate handle with the box to the left of the latch which looks like a light maybe.

At first I thought it was for the 360 camera but the Tremor at the event doesn't have it and it has 360 cameras. Is it related to the 4k tow maybe? And the new trailer assist stuff? Anyone have any ideas? It looks like a light maybe? But why wouldn't the Tremor get it then?

Below the green Maverick has the part I am talking about. Vs the Tremor that doesn't.

Note that won't be available until Job 2 builds (November-ish), so if you order a Lariat now, you won't get it. It's not available on XL or XLT at all, even as an option.

That would make since. I watched the videos again and the Tremor has working 360 cameras in he video so it must not be needed for the 360. I have a 2025 Tremor order and was just wondering if it would have that wider tailgate handle or not as I think it looks a little gawdy, but the light would be nice for proximity lighting.

So are you saying there will be another package ontop of the 4k tow people can order to get the tow assist and it will add that?

Not sure on that one - it's not clear to me if it will be an additional package or included with 4K tow on Lariat & Lobo.

First, great catch on figuring out the tailgate thing! I totally missed that. And I agree, the normal one looks better.

The Pro-Trailer stuff is standard on the Lariat (and I believe Tremor) & Lobo, but not until Job 2. So any Lariat built during Job 1, which is the first 3 months of production, will not have the Pro-trailer stuff. Those Job 1 Mavs are supposed to also get a $300 credit.

I notice that the placement of the stereo volume number is different if you have Pro-Trailer or not. Without Pro-trailer it is on the left, closer to the driver. With Pro-trailer, it moves to the right and the Pro-trailer knob takes its place.

That camera is so you can see your alignment with a trailer and your hitch.

It's not just a different handle. The whole tailgate is unique. Has another chunk of black plastic all around the handle too. As if the truck needs more black plastic on it.

I don't think the Tremor had the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist. I'm sure that is what is for.

The Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is not post of the 4k Tow Package. Is standard on Lariat, Tremor, Lobo at Job 2.

Good day all ….
I’m a soon to be Maverick owner.
My order is placed just waiting on sched and vin..
I’m up north across the border in Canada.
I have brought this pro trailer assist issue up with my dealer and they have had nothing to say it is not coming with job 1 .. not sure if American and Canadian models are run at the same time.
the spec sheet that was provided to me says it’s there.
We opened my order up and there is no flags etc..
so I guess it’s a waiting game
But my dealer confirmed if it does for some reason not come with the trailer assist they will sell it and get one coming with it.

I was thinking of ordering just the handle trim piece and handle to cover up a scratch I have above my current tailgate handle. However it looks like the actual sheet metal skin on those trucks has been changed to accomodate that new handle assembly so it would simply not fit on an older Maverick model without reworking the tailgate sheet metal too.
