So, it is the "El Cheapo" that is now a $195 option. Part cost is $105. Cost cutting results in greater profit; base price was not reduced because of dropping the keypad and so profit is up. Dealer also makes a little more because he now gets to install the option or sell the keypad after-market and get install fee. Everybody is happy except the buyer who likes the hard-wired keypad on the door (no batteries) and now pays the same base model price but gets the inferior stick-on keypad option costing $195!!!o_O(n)
I work at a local Food dealership. You can install it and program it yourself. All you need both original keys, the keypad and 5 minutes later your in business. Comes with alcohol wipes to clean of the are you want to stick it to. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to program. It’s an easy ungrade.

Understood. However, if the base price had remained the same, it went "up" because the truck has less value without the wired keypad. To regain some of that value, buyer must buy an option inferior to the original.
The keypad has no impact on resale value. Look at any group like Edmunds, Carmax, etc. and there is no checkbox for keypad.

You may be right...... A lot of features have no checkbox on Edmunds, Carmax, etc. but I personally think the absence or three or four may affect resale value. When my wife starts checking out cup holder numbers and location, it tells me that what is a small feature for one person may not be for another.

It seems that the keypad was a feature that was listed on most dealer checklists in their ads for a maverick resale. Window dressing for some; I just know that I have not touched a key except on the day I picked up my Maverick over a year ago.

The XLT and Lariat used to come with them, for whatever reason Ford did not plan to offer it on the '24. It was brought back by popular demand, but only as a dealer Installed option. Don"t really know about pass points, but probably. The keypad is far from newfangled however. I think Ford introduced them in the '80's. I know my father's ''88 MK VII had it.
am so glad I got a 22 XLT FX4 luxury pkg. Just off the top of my head leather steering wheel, digital heating control, heated wipers, rear sliding window, programmable key pad, spray in bed liner, an more am sure you can't get on a new Maverick. And on top of that you're paying 2k more.

Am sorry I didn't mean it that way, I was happy I finally did the right thing and didn't get screwed. I came so close to not leaving that deposit back in Oct 21 at the dealership because you never buy the first year model.

You forgot the ambient lighting under the dash that was also eliminated for 23.

This stick-on accessory sounds like a nice, but really unnecessary, doo-dad with yet-another-battery that will go dead at an inconvenient time.

Available and very easy to install. Since it’s a stick on keypad you can mount it anywhere you want. A lot of people have added them and mounted it on the inside of the fuel door to help protect it from the elements.
It'll fit in there?
