Update:

I took the cluster over to my local tint/wrap shop here in San Diego called WolfWraps. Jimmy, the owner, is a fantastic dude. Our family has had work done with this business on vehicles for quite a while now. He was able to get PPF installed on the cluster, and at this point - this is as good as it's going to get. It's almost perfect, and I'd even say you could easily put the remaining micro scratches into it on a factory cluster with little to no effort... even with a new microfiber.

Moral of the story here: Just spend the $50 or whatever it costs to get your stock gauge cluster PPF'd. Bonus points if you do it right after you pick it up brand new!

If you don't and you etch your cluster accidentally like I did, make sure after using PlastX that you do go get it PPF'd. If you don't, your anti-glare coating (like mentioned above) will be gone once you buff everything out with PlastX. I didn't notice how bad the reflections were until I drove in different conditions, so buffing the entire cluster definitely removed that coating.

Thank you everyone for your assistance and motivational words through this... I thought my cluster was a goner.
