I found the backup cam to be largely pointless anyway. Far too distorted. Ultra Wide lenses suck, and they suck twice as much on cellphone form factor cameras.

I can see this becoming a minor annoyance... I mean what good is the camera if it's unusable in bad weather, when you would probably need it most.

This will be my first pickup truck besides the 1-2 years I was able to drive my dad's Ranger when I first got my license. Otherwise, the majority of my driving life has been in vehicles with backup cameras so you can say I am more accustom to looking at the camera backing up than I am my mirrors.
But I always loved how easily I was able to tell where the envelop of the Ranger was, mostly because you could see the rear so easily out over the bed and clearly know where the tailgate and bumper is. Is the Maverick similar despite having a back row of seats? Or in other words, is the camera as useful of a tool here as it would be on a sedan/SUV where you cannot necessarily see the rear end of the vehicle?

IDK.... I love it! At least you can see if there are any large objects in the way (vehicles, children, garbage cans, children in garbage cans). Much better than no image at all.

Hey, no biggy it’s only been 10 or 15 yrs since they became mandatory. 😂🤣
No Not that long. Became mandatory in 2018. But many vehicles had it before that. My 2013 Honda CRZ had one. It showed on the rear view mirror when backing up. A little bit bigger than a matchbook cover. It still helped tho.

There's a recall on my Mustang for the backup camera. But instead of being told go to your dealer to get it fixed, Ford is telling us to wait until they have enough cameras in stock to replace them.

And the resolution on the camera for that car is about the same as for the Maverick. If there's something big, you'll see it and isn't that kind of the point? We're not going for CSI <fill in your city> quality where you can zoom in 100 times and it won't be all pixelated and that's a Hollywood fantasy anyway.

I used to drive a full sized work van no back/side windows. I learned to use the mirrors and still use them. I seldom even glance at the screen for the backup camera, except maybe for a parallel park.

I still use mirrors a lot and camera mostly to just make sure there's nothing right behind me.
