XLT had a higher build rate than Lariat, that's why.
Yes and I get that but if it's based on your dealer specific allocations, it shouldn't be a years worth of difference in delivery.

Tim's video indicated that Ford would track and if they built a MY23 order and saw a corresponding MY24 order with the same order number it would be cancelled.

Hopefully, Ford will try to pick all the remaining Area 51 and Alto Blue orders they can for MY23. (y)
What? No love for Cyber Orange and Avalanche.

So, here we are, not being scheduled this year. Our dealers should be contacting us to order a 2024 Maverick using the SAME order number that was used for our 2023. And then, they are supposed to cancel our 2023 order and Ford somehow will know that we have priority over all the NEW orders so we'll get built first.

Yeah... I may have some trust issues with this process.

(at least 3 people who ordered 3-4 days AFTER me at our smallish dealer have already been scheduled. One of them has basically the same Maverick that I ordered sans moonroof and color.)

Anyway,
Who thinks we'll ACTUALLY get our Mavericks before Johnny come lately who places his order this month.

I think the process will work for most, but not all but, I'm not holding my breath for my Maverick.
Well, there's a lot of year left. I ordered February 2022 and got converted to a 2023. But, isn't there another shift getting scheduled that's going to speed things up? What would it cost you to order a '24, just in case?
I did that and I actually took it and traded in the other one.

A51!
According to Tim's livestream, your dealer needs to put in your MY24 order with the same dealership code and the same order number (I'm certain having a COVP completed wouldn't hurt). Then, when Ford cuts over to MY24 scheduling, they will pull down a list of the MY23 orders that have not been scheduled yet and grab their corresponding MY24 order at the same dealership and prioritize it themselves ahead of any MY24 order that does not have a corresponding unscheduled MY23 order.

Personally, I think this is where the previously mentioned Priorities 3-9 will come into play. Ford will slap them all at 3-9 and new MY24s will be limited to 10-19.
Ah, here we go again. I went through this last year. Got scheduled and then rescheduled 3 times and then converted. But, I'm on my second Maverick now.

My sympathies and hopes

Right, that is a different issue.

If you are still unscheduled on 7/17, you should place an order for a 2024 Maverick at the same dealership as you 23 order. The dealer should use the same order number as the 23 order. Your 24 order should be COVPd as well. The dealer should not mess with the 23 order. Ford will be using info from the 23 order to prioritize the reordered 24s.

If, by chance, your 23 is scheduled after 7/17, Ford will be cancelling the 24 order.

I honestly don't think color will be a factor in the scheduling at all. (But I am sad.... I have an Alto Blue and Area51 is my next favorite!)

Oh, I may do that. I was just hoping to get more time with a Maverick before the next truck I'm buying. Anyway, I'm planning on being there on the 17th. Has the timing of the order window been announced yet? I don't want to be the guy who waited too long to convert a 2023 to 2024 and have Ford close the order book and say "Too bad, you miss out on getting rolled over."

I love Cyber Orange (see avi).

I ordered my Tremor in Cactus Gray, though, and now I'm thinking of switching to Shadow Black. I've been seeing CG in the wild and I don't like it as much as I thought I would.

... Has the timing of the order window been announced yet...
Nobody knows. But last year, the minute the order banks opened, it was announced on MTC and the Maverick subreddit.

Just get your '24 order ducks in a row w/ your sales person. When you see the opening announced in forums, call your sales person, tell them it's open and to enter your order - in case they're not aware it's opened yet. That's what I did last September. I did my entire order over the phone and by email. If the options differ for '24, your order can be modified long before it will be built.

Not basically the same Maverick. The moonroof might be one reason the two orders weren't built around the same time.

Yeah, the long wait drives you crazy. I think the ordering window ( at least it was last year) is in September. The only good thing was that I had saved up enough to almost pay in cash. I took that other Maverick I ordered and now I'm on my second.
Next truck?

Are you thinking the 2024 order bank opens in September? It opens in 9 days.
