2023 Maverick Hybrid with bad front axles at 57k miles?????

Yes- my 2023 Maverick Hybrid developed bad front axles at 57k miles. The Ford recall page said it was only on model years since '24.

About 6 weeks ago I noticed a "shimmy" (for want of a better word) when I was going 60mph up a mountain. I thought the right front wheel threw a weight. When I slowed to 58mph it went away. It kept getting a little worse, so I took it back to the tire store and had them balance and rotate the tire. They said the right front tire was "way out of balance" and I figured the problem was solve. I was wrong. Over the next month it kept getting worse. Eventually, it did the shimmy on flat land when I was accelerating. I scheduled the Mav in at the local dealer for "The Works" (oil change, lube and rotate/balance the wheels) and the parking brake recall. I told them there was a problem with the front axle. They said they didn't find a problem so I made the service manager test drive the truck. He was afraid to drive it in 15 seconds. He said there was not a recall and would contact Ford. I picked it up yesterday and both axle sets (axles, bearing, bushings, etc.) were replaced at no charge. The only charge was for the WORKS which I didn't really need.

So- be advised. '23s have an axle issue like later models. The good news is they didn't charge me. They did spend about 45 minutes trying to get me to buy a '26 Tremor for only $45K. I said "NO" a few times before they realized I meant it.

Good Job making it to 57k on original axles. They got the final updated part # out earlier this year and have been giving everyone the updated axles under warranty at dealerships.
Mine only lasted to 22k and failed again at 52k when i got the updated part # this February.

Your 'be advised' will fall on deaf ears. If you havent seen the million posts about this then the next person with this problem wont either....and start another thread about it. (Im in a mood)

CSP 25N09 only applies to 2022 models so far.

That may change pending how many warranty claims are done on 23s while still under powertrain.

Please provide the Ford Recall page that says only past 24MY.
That's ass-backwards.

25MY got the upgraded axles that have been used as the replacements on the pre-25MY.

Excellent they replaced the other items that were potentially damaged by the shaking.
I'm guessing you kept silent on the wheel being outta balance.

Also - parking brake recall on 23MY?


ETA: My right was replaced just after 20K, I found small leak during that service. They were having slow winter is my guess, since no effects seen yet.
So good job making it that high in miles, many have gotten up there when you read the many posts about it.

My front axle's went at 34,000 miles and a Ford dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong and I was driving on snow tires, Micheline Cross Climate tires, which are not snow tires. Fortunately, another dealer found the issue and replaced both axle's which Ford paid for. Do not believe a dealer that tells you you do not have a problem.

Congratulations, you slid in and got them replaced just before your standard powertrain warranty was about to run out at 5y/60K miles. BTY, the cv axle issue has been an issue with many since the introduction of the truck in MY22. Unless I've missed it (very possible) there hasn't ever been a recall on the cv axle issue. There was a customer satisfaction program 25N09 that covered some MY22's built in a specified date range for 10y/100K miles as a one-time repair only.

Hah, I forget. I took delivery in the middle of April, '23, so I'm guessing March. I'll go look it up.

My 22 is being done now at 25K, started shaking at 22K, hope they are putting updated axles in it, at least they gave me a 26 Maverick to use until they finish it.

Updated is all that's been used since last year about spring, after the 25MY was out with them.

57k miles and both axles dead? That's a manufacturing defect. Period. Ford knows it. Dealer covered it because they knew they'd lose a warranty fight. Good result but annoying you had to push them. Tremor for $45K? No thanks
