Dealer changed my CV axle at 48k miles on the passenger side. I still have the same wobble while accelerating, and at 45-50 mph. They act like it's the first maverick that's having this problem. I will not ever recommend buying a FORD product.
Good afternoon, Jim. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this wobble concern?

Do I buy the extended warranty or order the 2025 lariat hybrid?
At this point I would say its inevitable the axles will go so depending on if they ever figure that issue out that will drive the ROI on the warranty. And new is always good :) but I would warranty that too...

So took my questions to the dealer and the service department couldn't tell me much about the bearing that's bad other than it's not replaceable without replacing the transmission.
They said they have no loaners available, which leaves me having to buy another car since I am not paying for up to 2-3 months of a rental in the most likely event they have issues with the repair. Good times...

Dealer just called and said they will be starting work on the truck soon and should be fixed in a few weeks, 2 months prep work is not bad for such an exotic vehicle... I regret everything about this truck.

The dealer called and let me know the truck was done early. I picked it up after verifying that all the current recalls were done as well. While still at the dealer, I did a quick QA checklist to make sure the truck was working, and sadly, but not surprisingly, the AC did not work.

The dealer said it would be a few hours to wait for a tech to look at it, so they gave me back the service loaner and now we start the process of how many other procedures were skipped or done incorrectly with the full motor out transmission replacement.

Ford said the miles were too high to be considered a lemon, but the work was covered under warranty. No warranty can survive bad technicians though; this truck is doomed.

Hey Ford here’s an idea. You’ve been collecting data from places like this site 2021 and yet haven’t updated the design or product. Maybe we shouldn’t all be guinea Pigs in your affordable compact truck experiment!

Well they said my ACs high side gasket was bad, I reminded them that this was an engine out repair they just dod, in any case that was fixed and I went home. Until I noticed that the axle still vibrated (10 miles of driving) so I took the truck back.

They said they didnt know when they could look at it and they didnt have a loaner. The service manager asked about the vibration and when I explained it he said yup that’s a thing on these even after being repaired.

In the past there was someone complaining about stop and go knocking thought to be something with the brakes initially. (There were several complaining about clunking, etc). In his case a tech found that the roll restrictor was bad which destroyed the other engine mounts so he replaced all mounts. Might search for that thread????

The dealer just called and said they completed the recall work it was brought in for but found bad axles. They replaced those and then found that the transmission was also bad due to a bad bearing that is not dealer-replaceable. This requires ordering a transmission and a full engine out replacement of the tranny which will take 4-8 weeks if all goes well. I am out of a car for that time I guess, so that is awesome... Luckily this is under a 3/36k warranty and I have the 7/100k warranty as well but what good is that if it's in the shop every other month for another safety recall?
The 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty should also cover this.

Geez, sincerely sorry to hear all those issues, that would make a preacher curse. If it were mine, that truck would be traded in as soon as it would roll down the road without noticeable issues. Not sure what to say about your dealer, whew. Good Luck..

After getting the trans replaced, it was clear the new axles were bad - so after a week in service again they replaced the new axles, and then just after 600 miles, I noted the new transmission slipping on inclines.

Rather than get stuck with the truck in service for months again and waiting for more repairs or explaining this AGAIN, I traded the truck in for an old Range Rover which just took 3 hours at a BMW dealer. In comparison, I couldn't even get Ford to loan me a car for weeks, let alone respond in a business day.

I would rather go with a brand known for comfort but expensive maintenance I can plan for than one that won't admit it has a problem and fights every attempt to make it better or even trade in on a more expensive rig (which I was preapproved for by Ford credit...)

I had asked about a buyback before and they denied me, I asked about trading into 6 different local dealers and they ghosted me or passed me on since they didn't want to order an F150XL and install the supercharger addons since that's "not their typical business".

Do better Ford, you are currently disappointing former fans.

Undoubtedly the first time in history anything was ever traded for a used Range Rover as a reliability UPGRADE.

Sorry you had an unlucky lemon... hope the new sled works out. :)
