Last Sunday I needed to grab something out of my 2.0EB AWD XL. I opened the passenger door and noticed the interior light didn't come on but I didn't think much of it. The following morning I woke up to go into work, I got in the truck and nothing came on, the dash didn't light up, the interior lights didn't come on, etc. I put the key into the ignition and turned, and was met with silence, it didn't even try to turn over. Maybe I left something on or something over the weekend....

I woke my wife up to get her to help me get her truck setup to jump the Maverick. We get her 2.7 EB running and hook up the jumpers, the interior lights, dash and radio come on as soon as the key is turned. We try to start the Maverick again, but no dice, it clicks a couple times and then nothing. We leave them connected for about 10 minutes, and try again, no dice. At this point I'm running late for work and need to figure out a solution.

We get the kids up, get them dressed, and get on the road to the auto parts store in her truck. We arrive just in time for them to unlock the doors. I go in, ask for a battery for the truck and out of the ~30 batteries on the shelf, that's the only one they're out of. I leave the store and head home, on the way I tell my wife that Im taking her truck in and asked if she'd call the dealership to see what they could do for us.

Later that morning my wife called me to say that the dealership was going to send a tow truck to pick my truck up and bring it to the dealership, but wouldn't be able to look at it for "a day or two". Its about 20 miles from my house, so I was happy they were willing to do the tow. The tow truck arrived at my house about 4 hours later than they projected but the driver was good and got the Maverick to jump off a booster box and pulled it onto his flatbed under its own power.

The dealership called me Thursday afternoon to pick my truck up. When I went into get the truck they said it was a bad cell, the service document said it was $326 but was covered under warranty. They also refilled my fluids and did an oil change for me while it was in.

Today Ford Corporate called me asking me about the service I had received. I said the service was good, but that I was perturbed that a 6 month old truck already had a bad battery and needed to be towed to the dealership. They were happy for the feedback and ended up offering me a $200 gift card as an apology for the issue I had. Overall I am impressed that they went above and beyond and even called after the fact, let alone offering $200 on top of that.

Nice write-up. Your paragrap lengths are remarkably consistent.

It‘s a bummer you got a bum battery, but it sounds like they did you right.
