I'm gonna stir the pot a little bitIf you could get the wider display for $1000 or $1500 would you?
Nope. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can switch between a smaller windowed view and taking up the whole width of the screen.Could be wrong but usually the actual Android auto or carplay screen size is the same. All that extra on the right is is for digital HVAC controls, I prefer the manual controls that the Maverick has myself.
In all fairness, Toyota was able to reduce the price of the Corolla Hybrid a little bit in its 2023 Midcycle Refresh.I'm genuinely scratching my head about why Ford didn't raise Maverick prices more. The market will bear it. Corporations aren't altruistic. But Ford seems to be acting that way. It's a genuine puzzle. It seems like they could move all the Mavericks they want for another $2,000 each on the bottom line.
This is the main thing that people miss over and over and over about the Maverick. This truck is great for what it is. But what it is, is the most entry level truck on the US market. No matter how much you spend, at its base, it is still a $20k truck. And that should be the standard for expectations. The difference between a vehicle that starts at $19,995 and the not-quite-bottom trim (required to get the 13.2" display) that costs $30,340.
Post the link to another US Market $23K truck and lets compare features.$19,995 is long in the rearview mirror. You're looking at $22,195+ destination now. And as the price creeps ever higher, the compromises become less palatable.
No.If you could get the wider display for $1000 or $1500 would you?
Do the aftermarket ones still work with the steering wheel controls? That's one thing that seems to always disappear with the aftermarket ones. With Forscan, I'm sure there's a way to get it to recognize probably. There's always a possible/theoretical Escape screen swap, but honestly, I'm waiting on the chinese to make a 12" or so aftermarket head unit, just like they already do for say, Honda Accords, that don't have a traditional DIN-style radio anymore either.
For example, here's what my friend put in his 2018 Accord, and I would put in the Maverick, as soon as they re-engineered the mounting locations.

Unless the Santa Cruz is going up in price similarly, the Maverick value proposition is weakeningPost the link to another US Market $23K truck and lets compare features.
