there is no way a fwd ecoboost is faster in a straight line on dry pavement than AWD just based on the weight savings.

then, obviously, any time you have rain, snow, ice or you'd like to apply throttle while exiting a corner, AWD has huge advantages.

they cut the fwd ecoboost because hardly anyone bought them.

...since 2018...so only 6 years?
Get back to me after these are all 10+ years old. The cost of replacement will likely need a significant amount of labor based on how tightly these are packed. $200 part to manufacture would probably have a shelf price of $600. Add labor and you are probably looking at $2K minimum for a replacement from a dealer.

Bottom line, adding anything to a complex engine/emissions system creates another point of failure, especially when it is being newly implemented.
Here are some other thoughts on adding the GPF to the Maverick and (likely) other cars coming down the line...Spoiler, there are some concerns over long term reliability/cost to repair.

I hope that not all EB 2025 Mavericks will have a GPF...only states that follow California emission standards will have one. Next week the Ford Video Guy should get confirmation from his Ford rep about who gets the GPF.

Your concerns are unfounded. Every car sold in Europe and Australia has had a ppf/opf/gpf since 2018. Their fuel economy didn't go down. The filters are not clogging up. Gasoline engines burn hotter that diesel and low rpm, city driving, still makes enough heat to undergo the 10 minute regen cycle. Also, the European HP numbers aren't even down. Compare any European OPF/PPF equipped BMW and the ouput listed (in PS) will be 10 or so hp higher than the (SAE) rated US non OPF counterpart. And these filters are not failing and needing to be replaced. And they don't cost thousands of dollars. There's no platinum, paladium and rhodium in there. It's just a ceramic honeycomb inside of a steel tube. A gpf/ppf/opf costs automakers $200 to make.

Dose Europe & Australia have different gas than the US?

strange question.. of course they do. even the US has different gas depending on where you're at, there are over 100 regional blends of gas.

did you have a real question/comment about the GPF? the Escape got it for MY24, so if there are issues with it, we might hear about it from that community first.

Every Youtube 0 -60 test on the stock 2025 ecoboost I have seen comes in around 7 seconds where as the previous generation was 6 seconds and a even a few breaking into high 5's. Not very scientific data I will admit. Any memebers with 2025 ecoboosts have any drag times to report?

I mean I think EU &Australia has BETTER gas than our ethanol unleaded gas

Sounds like the '25 EB 2.0 Mavericks have an upgraded and improved engine.
Still glad I got a 24’ I got buttons and knobs to control my A/C, IMHO a far better looking front end and at 4600 miles with no bugs or problems of any kind.
Btw my 2.0 Ltr Ecoboost engine is in many vehicles over many years. Many past 200,000 miles from what I can find. No problems of any kind except for the odd one out now and then.
I’ll trade up before my extended warranty expires at 100,000 miles.

Check out my tank range at fill up:

Plus the 25’s cost several thousand dollars more.
I’m good.

When I was in the EU for five years we noticed all of the tallest forest trees had dead tops. About 4 to 5 feet of the very top of the taller trees was dead.
Yes fuel is different especially their diesel.

Exactly why I did it. By '24 they had most of the bugs worked out of the original platform. My '24 had been great so far (5000 miles). Not to mention less expensive that the '25 as well.

the answer to this is regional, once again, but it isn't ethanol.

EU uses between 5 and 10 percent ethanol. It costs a lot because they don't subsidize corn farmers and ethanol refineries like the US does, but that part isn't really any different.

the amount of ethanol in the gas will not have any effect on particulates in the exhaust, but do you know what does? sulfur. there are some parts of the US where the regional gas has a very high tolerance for sulfur, and people in those areas quite predictably have far more issues with catalytic converter performance and longevity.

most of europe has much stricter controls on sulfur in gas than the US.

anyway, once again, Ford has tested this over hundreds of thousands of miles so I trust them more than I trust random theorycrafting. several years from now if a person has an issue with their catalyst with integrated GPF, I'd suggest getting a 22-24 catalyst to replace it.
