I have a 2022 AWD 2.0EB with FX4 and 4K tow. Up until a couple months ago I had no issues. All of a sudden, my battery would be dead in the morning and I would have to use a jump start battery. After happening 2-3 times, I figured out it was because I must have turned the headlights on the M (manual) setting and they didn't shut off automatically like I thought they were supposed to.

So no problems until recently. I was running a GPS plugged into the 12v cigarette lighter socket all the time, and would come out to a dead battery. My neighbor said he noticed my GPS on full bright in the morning. So I figured it was not cutting power like I thought it did. It's possible I configured it to stay on all the time in Forscan, which I know I wanted it to do last winter when trying to charge my cell phone while charging. So I decided eventually I'll change it back to a 5 minute shutoff when I kill the ignition. This one is most likely my fault. For the time being, I unplugged the GPS. That was 2 days ago.

I come out this morning and my battery is stone cold dead again. I can't see any reason for it. I have heard of other people having dead battery issues. Maybe I rely too much on all the automated dumb settings to prevent it. Any insight?

After going totally dead a few times maybe the battery is kaput. I would start by testing the battery.

If you have a glove box light it may be that, some of the Mavericks had an issue with it not turning off when closed.

I lean towards the battery being damaged from being discharged so many times. I'm going into year 3 of maverick ownership and leave things plugged into my 12v socket, and my USBs. They have been plugged in since I bought the truck. Not all pull constantly but I have left tablets charging, cell phones, even used the 120v one to charge all my cordless batteries overnight using a 6-slot charger.

I haven't had a dead Battery.... yet (knock on wood ) I would guess that your was just weakened from discharges or a module that is un-releated to what your doing is faulty and pulling extra.

I had a '18 Fusion that did that a lot. Never could blame it on my actions. After the battery and the BCM (Body Control Module) were replaced by Ford under warranty, the problem was solved. The BCM was somehow powering up the whole car for no reason, and various things would be "on" for hours. This destroyed the battery eventually. Took 3 overnight visits to the dealer to finally figure out what it was.

Thought I should follow up on this. I got tired of randomly having to jump start my Ecoboost, sometimes several days in a row, sometimes more than once in a day. So finally took it to the dealer under warranty. After a total of three times having it in the shop, they couldn't figure it out, finally blaming it on my added electronics, which I had unplugged so knew that wasn't it. Researching it on my own including MTC, I tried unplugging the BMS wire and it still died, so that wasn't it. Finally I did what I should have done in the beginning, tested the Ford battery, which was still under warranty. After charging all night, it would only hold a maximum 11.75 volts. Bingo. I installed a new AC Delco AGM battery ($180 on Amazon) and haven't had a problem since. Two days ago I dropped off the dead battery with the dealer, showing the service manager with a multimeter that it would not hold more than 11.75 volts, which by most experts is considered a dead battery, certainly needing to be replaced. He explained to me by some technical terms I'd never heard of why it was still considered a good battery and they couldn't refund me. I told him I didn't care to argue, there was no excuse, and left. I left them a one star review on Google saying what bothered me more than the money was time wasted scheduling, getting shuttled back and forth, having to drive a crummy Ford Focus and not being able to use my pickup for up to three days at a time. Yesterday they tried to get a hold of me. If it's anything other than "We want to refund the price of your new battery," I'm not interested.

Seems like someone said he was told the battery voltage has to be 10.5 or less to qualify as dead.

Damn, what an awful sitiation. Shame on that dealership, maybe another one would hace been willing to do right by you. Mine decided to replace my flooded cell factory battery for a new AGM for free.
