Auto start/stop disable with dead battery trick for 2.0 Ecoboost

Has anyone tried hooking up a dead battery to their Maverick to disable the auto start/stop? My wife’s 2020 Explorer’s battery went bad and we had the garage not reset the auto start stop after putting the new battery in. Works great. The auto start/stop is not a gas saving feature and serves me no benefit with my long commute.

If you do a lot of in-town driving like I do, the auto stop/start saves me 1-2 mpg. If you do mostly long commutes driving 45 mph or higher, I can understand no savings in gas.

I have been having problems with my battery in my EcoBoost keeping its charge. My first clue was the auto stop/start feature not working. Keeping your battery on a lower state of charge will disable the A.S.S....

Our 2017 Escape ASS feature stopped working after few years of OEM battery service. Few months later, vehicle not starting. Had new battery installed. The ASS started working again. So a weak battery indication when ASS stops functioning.

Couple things about this Escape. OMG the battery is buried under the front cowling, and very difficult to get. At my age, and back issues, I let the young techs do the chore. Also, learned best not to use a regular flooded battery, but a AGM style battery. Was told need stronger battery for the ASS feature plus all the electronics. That means few more $$ for a battery.
