Ford factory rollup tonneau cover replacement needed for loose felt lining

I finally brought my truck to Ford for most of the recalls and service bulletins. One issue I had was the felt came loose from the Ford factory rollup tonneau cover. I thought they would just order some new felt and put it on. No, they told me they had to order a new tonneau cover and it would be in tomorrow.

Hoping all goes well with the install.

No. I called the Ford tonneau cover hotline number that was on my tonneau brochure. They said they will only replace it with a cover with felt. They will not give me the other cover. To me that is just crazy. You would think they would send the latest model cover.

that ain’t right. i have heard of other folks getting the new version because they were told they don’t even make that one anymore, and for good reason. plead with them that it’s unacceptable and it’s just gonna happen again and you are gonna need another replacement.

3 years 36k that's the benefit of getting Ford factory parts.

Ford delivered my truck to my house. You are reading this right. They called and said your truck was done, and we will have someone deliver the truck to your house.

When I went and checked the new tonneau cover, it had the plastic, instead of the felt. They said they would only replace it with a felt tonneau cover. I got lucky.

The new cover no longer has the Ford logo on it.

Mine came off as well. Tossed the felt in the garbage. Seems to function fine without it & want to keep the Ford logo.

The left side is almost fully off and the right side is partially off. I have had the truck for 6 months now.

Take it in for repair or replacement.

Apparently Ford is shipping a repair kit to replace the felt. Guess next summer I will be back to the dealer to get it repaired again. The new Rev rollups come with a plastic covering instead of the felt. I don't really mind the felt, but I don't see how it can possibly hold up to the heat. That cover get so hot it burned me.

I actually took mine into the dealership today to have them inspect and reach out to RealTruck/BakFlip with a warranty code they provided me. I’m hoping it is an easy transition and I can get the new cover because my felt is gone and a lot of my other seals are separating as well. Fingers-crossed!
