I dislike auto stop too.(Except for on my hybrid 😅)But I don't see the big issue with taking 1/2 second to press a button. I don't understand why people actually modify their vehicle to override it. It literally takes less than a second. to push a button once per drive cycle. I see some people do it as a reflex. Start the car, press the button, put it in gear and go. With them is all one motion
Well, I've gotten to that point with that damn drive mode button (always drive in 'eco') but still have to push it 4 or 5 times.

That's been my thinking so far. I am developing the habit to just turn it off, ie. get in car, turn key, put on seat belt, hit button.

That's one thing I do like about the eCVT, holding the throttle in position and experimenting with the rate of acceleration.
I like to play with the acceleration a kind of like the engine drone when I’m driving by myself. I do it on purpose. But when I have passengers, I try to keep it down because I’m a little bit self conscious about it since it cAnd get a bit loud. But I’ve discovered that they disn’t notice until I pointed it out. They didn’t care. They just wanted me to slow down. 😂

That's to be expected. I rented a car with start stop. I just let it do its thing. In the beginning it was a bit disconcerting. But I got used to it. And its operation faded into the background. . As a mechanic, I've only seen ONE negative effect. We do seem to replace a few more starters than before. There's no extra engine wear as some seem to fear. Batteries last just as long. My hybrid engine starts and stops many, many times per trip. But I barely notice it . I actually notice it if it STARTS while I'm sitting at a light because off is the default when sitting still.

To me it's not noisy. I've stomped every vehicle I've ever owned. Hybrids inherently seem louder when stomped, because they hold at high rpm when under full throttle. But compared to other engines I don't feel it is loud at all.

The 25 Maverick Hybrid did get an impressive power boost though. Ford under rates the power numbers on the hybrids. They are much quicker than the numbers would make you think down low. The 25's are almost a full second quicker 0-60 mph with no increase in power ratings.

0-60 in a 25 Hybrid (AWD) IS 6.7 seconds.
1/4 mile is 15.3 seconds.
That is as quick as the very rare 65 Chevelle SS 396 (Z16). That's impressive considering it gets 40 MPG city, and weighs a lot more.

Push once to quickly clear the seatbelt warning (if I don't want to wait) then once to bring up the mode menu, then once to move it to eco. I think that's it anyway. 😅

I have a question for hybrid owners. Having an ecoboost I don't know the answer. I've seen a lot of complaints from auto journalists about how noisy hybrid engines are when pushed hard (which is probably not often). They especially complain about Atkinson Cycle engines, which are very popular in hybrids.

So it's a question I ask you folks. Because I'm debating whether my next Maverick should be another ecoboost or a hybrid. Please don't answer if you've never stomped it.

To reiterate the question, because so many people on MTC seem to lack reading comprehension skills. WHEN YOU PUSH HARD, is your hybrid engine noisy and annoying? Or is it a quiet little mouse? Us ecoboost owners are curious.

I do occasionally do a pedal to the metal run, what can I say I am young at heart! I never found the noise to be noteworthy, I mean yea it makes a bit more noise WFO but it never stuck out to me as particularly loud. I did by pass the fake noise, so that might be some of it, IDK. I love the hybrid, I dont find it to be lacking in power either, and my 22 now has almost 37000 mile, I haven't had any problems except for clunky half shafts that were replaced under warranty, an my mileage average is in the low 40's overall and I really dont pay attention to it or try real hard to get better mileage. The AC is ice cold, which is a big deal in Arizona, I leave it on and not on record and I remote start it and just a few minutes of blowing it is already cool even in 110 degree plus days. I would buy a hybrid Maverick again.

I have wondered what would happen if I held it WFO till the battery ran out of juice how much it would decrease acceleration, but I event done that yet.
