I have a project for you
Here’s my little 1-person micro camper—just enough space for me, my bike, and a bit of gear. This version’s kind of a prototype since it ended up heavier than I’d like, but I’m still pulling 35 mpg with the Hybrid Maverick.

The interior’s not finished yet. I built it mostly from leftover materials from a camper van project, and down the road I’ll build a lighter, more dialed-in version.

For now, it’s perfect for stealth solo camping and quick road trip

I have a project for you: How about making a pass through to the bed from the cab. I think this with a cap on the bed would be a hot setup. I'm willing to do some welding but it would be nice if there was a kit.

I thought about doing something similar but didn't want to lose the bed. I decided to use a hammock and truck bed extender. If I can’t find 2 trees I tie off 1 end of the hammock to the bed extender.

Not the best picture but you can get the idea. I can get a better picture this weekend.

Would you get enough dangle if you got two canoe hood tiedowns had a Y to those belaved over t roof bar for the other end of hammock, so you could be on just the truck?

Alternatively
Pippin: What about second bed extender?
Merry: I don't think he knows about second bed extender, Pip.
Pippin: That's where you fit a non existent front hitch receiver to non existent mounting points and fit one in front.
Merry: Non existent?
Pippin: Well you could give a welder-fabricator sexual favors in exchange.

I'm getting a hard shell (and paying through the nose for it), but for a camping trip I should be able to drape and stake a tarp over the back hatch.

They make hitch mount hammock stands but none are wide enough for my hammock. I use a Dutchware Banyan bridge and it needs more space between the ends than a gathered end hammock. They say it needs 14’.

I’ll take the comfort of the bridge hammock over the convenience of not needing at least 1 tree or pole.
