Fun fact, the "4x4" designation (along with 4x2, 6x4, etc.) was popularized by military use during WWII and was originally only meant to indicate how many wheels a vehicle had and how many of them were driven (regardless of how). There's actually lots of examples of military "4x4" vehicles since WWII that use full-time AWD/4WD with center differentials, but the good ole Willys MB had a part-time 4WD transfer case, so that's what's seared into everyone's brain when they hear "4x4".In Brazil the Rampage is rated for 2,000kg, which was incorrectly labeled as pounds when TFL talked about it and everyone else parroted. That is 4,400 lbs.
It's not that surprising, the Jeep Renegade built on the same platform could tow 2,000 lbs, with its smaller 1.4LT engine and its super tiny wheelbase.
The fact it talks about "intelligent" 4x4 and distributing torque between axles should have been the first warning light that this is, in fact, not 4x4.
Like I said, any JCDR using the ZF 9 speed is AWD, not 4x4. Proper 4x4 requires a proper 50:50 transfer case, and outside the fiat panda 4x4, no transverse mounted vehicle has ever offered that.
AWD activates when it activates. Unless you have the AWD display on, you don't know when you're using it.The Maverick is in reality, "Part-Time" AWD.
And how many owners have actually, USED the option?
True, but HOW many people really need it..AWD activates when it activates. Unless you have the AWD display on, you don't know when you're using it.
Besides that………So you want to buy a BYD pick up (I do too).
You get it home. At some point It needs service beyond a flat tire., what do you do. You own a 2 ton brick.

Traction is essential to safe driving. How many people really need brakes on all four wheels?True, but HOW many people really need it..

Guess that means you think America cannot compete- if that’s true we are dead either way because you don’t just compete in the U.S. as it’s a global economy and the most efficient and innovative win world wide. Then you end up like Russian manufacturing only what you can only sell here in an protectionist subsidized and tariff protected market- that doesn’t end well. America was built on ’ Laissez-faire let the markets decide’ which needs some controls but not full on protectionism forever- Thus, U.S. manufacturing needs even more wake up, -while Ford Skunkworks and other initiatives will help better position U.S. at some point (2030?)….. I think a Canadian style limited Chinese intro (say 100k vehicles/yr to start?) is in everyone’s best interest to further motivate. Good quality vehicles hitting the streets at $20-30k will introduce some urgency no tariff or protectionist policy will ever accomplish. If Chinese auto manufacturers are ever allowed to sell into the US, it'll be the last nail in the coffin for Western manufacturing...
How do you turn on the All Wheel Drive display?AWD activates when it activates. Unless you have the AWD display on, you don't know when you're using it.
If they do not include a Hybrid option that can get near 40 MPG or better ts pointless. They will not be competing with the Maverick. They will compete with the Colorado, Ranger and Frontiers. Just my opinion no disrespect to anyone else's opinion.Ram Rampage confirmed for US!

And Maverick does what different. It's got its own cheap outs. Door pilar black stickers, window whistles.Exactly. Cheap build and rattle trap.
I am not opposed to free market competition, but currently there is no ethical way for US companies to even get close to competing on cost with Chinese manufacturing. As a communist state, the Chinese government heavily subsidizes their manufacturing. In many cases, Chinese manufacturers get their land or even their facilities for free from the government. The subsides are so strong that Chinese companies are often able to sell products at a financial loss in order to dominate global markets and put westerners out of business.Guess that means you think America cannot compete- if that’s true we are dead either way because you don’t just compete in the U.S. as it’s a global economy and the most efficient and innovative win world wide.
