I am first time Hybrid owner and in reading I am confused if there is a way to "jump start" the vehicle, if the 12V battery goes dead. Planning to be traveling accross country with a light way camper in tow, and I want to make sure I don't get stuck along the way. I puchased this Power Bank. Will that do the job to start the vehicle?

I haven’t had to do it with my Maverick but my 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid has been sitting mostly for the past 5 months, I forget to drive it every once in a while, and I’ve had to jump start it. My battery pack looks like it gives an error but as soon as I press the boost I can hear some tones like when you leave the lights on and I can remove the battery pack and start it like normal. It’s like it goes into hibernation and just giving it that little signal will wake it back up.

I need to look into this. It's not jump starting like a normal car because there is no starter.

Yes, it's exactly like jumping a normal car.

OP, there's spots under the hood, positive is covered by a red cap and the negative is a bare stud, that allow you to use cables or jump boxes. Take a look in the manual and you should be bale to see the process, but it's not difficult.

I had mine crap out on me and had to jump it a few times to get where I was going, power cable, super easy to do. And the jump pack you posted should work just fine.

Thanks. I am making my way through the manual and will go find those connection points under the hood!

The issue I've heard is that some of the boost packs are looking for a big load before they kick on. These hybrids aren't going to necessarily do that because there is no starter. I'm pulling this info from Toyota hybrids which I believe are very similar.

Shouldn't be an issue. There's actually quite a bit of load when all the electronics fire up.

I've watched the voltage levels/SoC with the little BT monitoring device, and when first powered or for 40-50 minutes following key-on, there's quite a bit of load on that little battery. Enough that the SoC (State of Charge) will show ~35% vs 70%+, once that draw stops when the electronics finally shut down, with a corresponding change in voltage.

Probably why the most common time to see a 'Deep Sleep' message is within a couple of minutes of having taken a short drive, or having unlocked the door, even if just putting something inside the truck, and the voltage drops down below the threshold of ~12.1 volts.

Maybe, but mine was as dead as a door nail and I was able to fire it right up all 3 times I needed to with my jump pack. And the dealer was able to get it on at least twice more.

Just something to look out for when buying a boost pack. Some obviously work but I've read about certain models having issues working properly with hybrid vehicles.

A simple jump pack will certainly work, we use one from Walmart that doubles as a phone charging bank so it has a dual purpose. but the one pictured should work great as well! jumping the battery is a little bit different, instead of red to red and black to black, you have red to red and black to a non painted bolt or a ground. there is a specific bolt that ford says to use, but I have talked to ford certified techs and they say any unpainted bolt will work.

On the hybrid there is a positive and negative post located under the hood. The positive is marked with a red cap and the negative is located up by the fender on the drivers side. A 2500A jump box is a little on the small side but it should do the trick if you have it fully charged.

This pics a little blurry but here are the locations of the under hood jump points on a Maverick hybrid.

I think the owners manual covers this.
