Life, it seems to me, would be dull with only reality. Dreams and hopes, even those unrealistic, offer some mental breaks from total reality. Your statement is a broad generality, similar to your broad general statement on how the truck was stolen based on a newspaper article. Just my opinion, and we know everyone has a bunch, some realistic and some not!! Peace!

I may even dream of trading my 25 XLT for a 26 Tremor with all the trimmings. Financial realism may preclude that!! Still nice to dream!!!

I’m not so sure.

Anyway, my point was, we know nothing other than what’s in the story. Maybe it was an employee’s truck and was parked in the back. Maybe the owner was getting gas and turned away for a bit. Maybe the owner was taking a dump in the station and the trash can dude broke his window and hotwired it or cloned the keyfob.

I agree that leaving your truck running and unattended is idiotic, but I have zero evidence presented that says that’s any more probable than the myriad other ways there are to steal a car.

I am sure the thief had good insurance coverage which will cover all the owner's cost! Owner probably just stepped inside the filling station to use the bathroom. Turned out to be a real "pit stop" with the second driver taking over andthe race was on............

I was born and raised in the city. You locked up everything.

Now I live out in the country with my driveway being a 1/8th mile drsgstrip. I leave my keys in the truck.

Don't judge people for how they live their life.

I'm assuming that is what happened to this guy. It sucks but you always got to keep an eye on your surroundings.

I'll personally judge the PO who stole it and hit other vehicles fleeing, those could have been people and children. Call me a hard ass but I'd like to see that guy get a minimum of 10 years in prison and since the odds favor this wasn't his first arrest add a bunch more.

My guess is that the offender was booked and released under the Illinois Safe-T Act. It's a great program for criminals that offers a catch and release process. It allows the guy to walk and repeat.

Pennsylvania also has a catch and release program, but it applies to fishing.
It’s been a while. I wonder if there have been any edits to the noted “alleged” statements? Or if the owner got the truck back, repaired it, and added the anti-barrel security “hard-cover” feature?
