So weird question here but bear with me for a second. The Maverick is my first truck and I'm not used to an open bed. I'm used to a car or SUV where it can be locked up tight. Have you ever had your bed storage cubby cover/plate stolen?

I live in a rural area and don't have to worry about that but sometimes I head into the city for a costco run or a doctors appointment and there are people who will take anything thats not tied down, and that cubby doesn't lock so it can be a target for the right person. What they'd do with it, I don't know.

Again, stupid concern, I know. I'm just looking at the possibilities.

I opted for a hard trifold tonneau cover. Got it through Amazon in 24 like $360 if memory is correct. Took about 15 to 20 minutes install, now it's 5 minutes if I have to remove it for cargo. Usually just opening it up is enough most times.

The biggest advantage is not having to shovel snow. Also keeping most things dry inside and keeping things from flying out of the bed (grocery bags).

This way it increases the trucks versatility offering a trunk when needed and a bed when needed. It also offers me to keep a 4 way, small floor jack, and several receivers to accommodate different height trailers and different size balls. I think there is a couple pipe wrenches as well. Just in case I have to switch the ball off to the right height receiver. So if I was worried it wouldn't be for the cover plate.

For me not having to shovel snow out of the bed when I need it was a huge reason for the Tonneau cover. Even if you keep it in a garage if you are out and about you will still get snow in the bed. Nature of the beast but I wouldn't give up having a truck. It's like a Swiss army knife you never know when you will need it. Hope you enjoy your truck and it's uses.

I have a hard tri-fold tonneau, but I also have keyed locks on my cubbies.

These will easily convert the covers to keyed locks. You need the 5/8" ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CH2PGM3V
